Neocolours forum back online 13 March
Hi all, Sorry about the week (and a bit, cough) downtime here. The forum was taken down due to a slight issue where a phpbb vulnerability was being exploited to relay spam from Latvia out from the board, so our web host pulled the plug and let us know what was going on pretty quickly. Due to me bein...

Re: Forum host move!
Well that was just in time too!
5 days after the move, I receive an email from the old hosts informing me of "slight increase in charges" of an additional 80%!

Re: Forum host move!
Everyone, the hosting move is completed and as best I can tell, all DNS records now point (correctly) at the new hosting. If anyone's encountering issues accessing this site through neocolours.me.uk, please shout up now!

Re: Forum host move!
Madge, Basically yes - the neocolours.co.uk domain has had nothing but domain-squatting advertising on it for years, and was autorenewing for quite some time on its annual expiry too. We've been deliberately not visiting, only querying the WHOIS info through third parties (just in case some auto tri...

Re: Forum host move!
Having just gone back through the 10 years nostalgia, in case anyone is concerned about the move to "a friend's" hosting: I and EofS have known Johan for over 12 years now, and Jazzy only slightly less, and is a fine upstanding person. He owns the web hosting business that we are moving to...

Re: So what have you done since August 2003?
10 years, oh my. Being schoolfriends with EofS makes it fairly easy to work out where I was 10 years ago - I think she had just moved to university, and I was just about to move (my term starting in October). So... 2003: Went to university as a reasonably geeky and fairly naïve 18 year old. 2004-200...

Re: We had the best time at the London Meetup 2013, just say
Yesterday was fantastic - I know I'm a bit more of a stranger with the not-playing-Neopets-any-more, but you guys were great. And you put up with me geeking out in the Science Museum :) Definitely agree that another meetup would be good, try to get some who couldn't make it this time too. Seconding ...

Re: Madge is going to London/France, can we say hi or someth
I hope this doesn't change your mind about coming, but I had to look up Milo...! We do have a malted hot drink called "Horlicks", and hot chocolate, but I've never had a mix of the two myself. That said, Jazzy does recall a Chocolate Horlicks so it might exist, but finding it in cafes is p...

Re: Madge is going to London/France, can we say hi or someth
I'd be up for coming along! Given that I live with Jazzy, my travel arrangements would be identical (I work Monday-Friday so weekends are not a problem). If you bring TimTams, do we have to use them like straws to drink our tea? :) (hot water through leaves, cow squirting, etc - HHGG reference unles...

Re: US Internet Censorship (warning: activism)
Gee thanks Kantark :P I think the key point as far as I am concerned regarding the whole SOPA/PIPA/International alternatives is that it's a totally closed process with no notice or appeal. I think the industries have massively misunderstood and underestimated the impact of the internet on their bus...

And in case anyone's concerned, Google have now given us a clean bill of health again.

Whoops! I've just fixed the front page now, I forgot I'd left that ready to roll last night but then not taken the security notice down! Fixed, sorry!

Yesterday's security incident
Hi everyone, I'd like to explain the recent problems experienced by the site, resulting in Google labelling us as potentially malicious. Firstly, the good news. I've manually been through the entire site to ensure that any malicious code has been removed, so the site now has a clean bill of health. ...

Re: RL Achievements and ToW
Alecko, do you still have the old hard drive in your possession? Once a disk starts failing, data recovery is never guaranteed, but a password-protected account does not automatically mean the files are irrecoverable. There's a chance some of that data is recoverable, but it's not necessarily within...
