For all you people saying that the Pteri should be a puffin...
...there still hasn't been a Maraquan Lenny yet. Last time I checked, the Lenny modelled after real birds.
Peacock:

Vulture:

Flamingo:

Macaw Parrot:

I really don't think that the Maraquan Pteri should be a puffin. Rather, the puffin design would fit the Lenny quite well.

Yes, exactly. Puffins are short "puffy" little birds, like the Pteri.EofS wrote:But the pteri is closer in shape to a real puffin than the lenny is. So it wouldn't require warping the basic pet design so much.Silverevilchao wrote:I really don't think that the Maraquan Pteri should be a puffin. Actually, I do believe that the puffin would fit the Bruce more. When they make the skunk/shadow Bruce it BETTER look like a puffin or a real penguin, otherwise I wont be happy.
The Lenny... I do agree with th epoint that the lenny is modeled moreso after real birds, but look at some of the pteri poses. The Black Pteri of Doom or whatever it's called is a Raven, the Christmas Pteri is a Robin "Red Breast." Brown pteri looks more like a real bird. It could go both ways.
I'm very disappointed that the Maraquan pteri isn't modeled after the Parrotfish. I mean, it would have fit and looked good. I like the black and blue coloring... but yea.

I don't get why people keep wanting puffins...isn't Maraquan supposed to be an underwater colour? I know it makes sense, but they can't really live underwater so in another way it doesn't make sense.
This is....different Not necessarily bad, but not really good either. I don't like the two main colours, they clash in my mind, and it makes it look like it's wearing a big black shell or something xP It also looks very evil for Maraquan, which is strange. I love the shiny tail
I still can't tell if I like this or not because it's like looking at two different pets. I wish they would've made it all black/blue or all yellow.
Hee, that's adorable though, in a sortof creepy way.
Um..ahh...5/10

Finally someone who's thinking the way I am! I just can't see the appeal of a puffin marq. pteri. It doesn't even sound that clever in my opinion (in that it's not hard to morph a bird-like creature into a real bird compared to morphing one into a fish) or very logical because none of the sea-faring birds live underwater (they just visit). And knowing them, TNT would have just recoloured a default pteri if they did go with that approach anyways. It sounds little different than the mer-pets to be honest then. Not that it couldn't have been nice either because some things just have simple solutions like that.Saturn wrote:Why does everyone want it to be a puffin? I thought the whole point of the Maraquan color was to turn the pet into something that looks like it could exist underwater. Having one Maraquan pet based on an animal that lives near water would just look out of place and inconsistent with the rest of the color. I can't imagine a flying, air-breathing animal being too happy living in a completely underwater city like Maraqua.
Puffins, seagulls, and the like are sea-faring birds, but they do not live under water. They live either near it or atop it. How would that fit in an underwater city?
That doesn't mean I dislike all the resembles to real animal species either mind you. I like both approaches.

I really like it. In fact, I must have it and plan to fill my labs with pteri.
It's more a sentimental attachment than anything because I have a very close friend who has a shirt with a drawing of a fish strapped to a bird's back. It's the birdfish and has been a running joke for so long that I cannot resist anything that reminds me of it.
So yes, because it's an amusing pet with great colours, and because it'll make me smile everytime I log in, it goes on my must have list.

I know, but they can't live there, and I thought the point of Maraquan was that the pet could live underwater. Um, I'll just quote Lakota and Saturn (I don't how I missed Saturn's post anyway, that's what I get for skimming ) -Jazzy wrote:Puffins are sea birds, and can actually swim underwater, so a maraquan puffin's not too farfetched an idea.

I don't like it. I don't like the bruce much either, but I can at least appreciate the effort and design. This to me looks like a disembodied head more than anything else. Either it's the size of the tail and front fins, or just the way it's posed. I can imagine this being part of an aquatic bird, but on its own it's just bizzare.
While I don't think that the Maraquan Pteri should resemble a puffin. . . come on, TNT, you can do better than this. At least make it look like it has scales, ferchrissakes. While I know that the Pteri must resemble a, er, bird in any incarnation, why not choose to model it after a fish that looks like it has a beak? I.E.: Parrotfish, as mentioned beforehand? Hell, even an angelfish would've made a better model. But no, that would make sense. This is coming from the collective intelligence that brought us the gwontok melon and custard pets, after all, and everyone knows that 'teehee' is a better reaction than 'ooo, shiny.'
Bah.
Bah.

I like it. The Maraquan pets are suppose to live under water after all. However, I think I would have liked the pteri more had, like with the lenny, they'd gone with a theme. Pteris should have gotten some sort of mythological sea creature since their faerie form was a phoenix. O.o Who knows though...maybe this is TNT's attempt at a leviathan. *pokes it*
