Grey Nimmo

Jelly Neo has captured an image for Grey Day. It's the Grey Nimmo:

Ummm.... so that's what it looks like to be high and constipated at the same time...

Seriously. Maybe they can't change the pose, but they could at least change the damn facial expression. This is a lazy, ugly colorfill.

I'm glad Nogitsune said it before me - My first thought was "wow that looks constipated!" :D

I'm not sure about constipated, but it certainly looks stoned. I'm not sure what aspect of grey it's meant to represent, but it's rubbish.

The sad expression of ordinary nimmos is better than that expression.

I just went to check out the news, and it seems they've fixed its face:

At least it's... a slight improvement now?

Yes. It's still an ugly nimmo, but at least now it looks depressed. I sure miss the old redrawn grey pets, though. Some of them were just gorgeous.

Something about those eyes are really off. Okay, I know its a case of looking at the trees in lieu of the entire forest, but those eyes are really putting me off. Its all crap, but the eyes are a special kind of crap in a league of their own. I'm with Cranberry; I miss the old gray pets.

The one in the news is a lot better. It's stayed clear of the drugs, at least.

I don't miss all the old grey pets- I would be happy if I never saw an old grey pteri, or meerca, or skeith, or uni (yes, I know that's controversial, but it has such terrible anatomy it should be put out of its misery and euthanized) or moehog. Most of their new versions are at least marginally less ugly, in my eyes, though not exactly wonderful. And personally, I do think a couple are actually nicer- the flotsam and kacheek.

But it is sad that no one can have one of the old grey pets that were really good- yurble, gelert, ixi and so on, and that there won't be any more that will actually be worth the however-many-millions price tag for the brush.

It seems like just a color fill with its eyes changed, I wish they'd change the pose somewhat for this. Would a grey nimmo really hold its arms up like that still? I think it could of been a bit more depressed...

They can't. If they moved the arms, then all the clothing wouldn't work. And given all the pets released so far since customisation was introduced (most obviously, no Maraquan) they do not wish to release any more pets for which clothing won't work.

It does seem incredibly stupid that they changed quite a lot of the Maraquan pets to make them fit the body shape of the customisation version somewhat, but then didn't make the clothes fit any parts of them (and presumably any added fists also can't hold objects). But that's a discussion for another topic.

Some of the new grey pets look more odd than others in the standard pose, mostly depending on how dynamic the pose is- fists in particular look wrong because the best of the old grey pets were very apathetic in their battle poses.
