Frozen For Protection :( EDIT: HAPPYTIMES

Post by Fury »

Shit!

I was happily restocking this morning, hanging around on the boards when all of a sudden I noticed my neoHTML had been wiped. Next, I got logged out - I tried to log back in straight away but I got the familiar message:
WARNING!

This account has been FROZEN for the following reason:

Due to potentially suspicious activity on this username, it has been frozen for the owner's protection. This can include falling for a scam or entering information into a fake login page. If you would like information on getting this account back, please contact us by clicking here.

If you think the above reason was applied to you by mistake, please contact our support staff by clicking here. Don't forget to include your USERNAME and explain why you think your account should not have been frozen. If you DID break the rules, please do not contact us again. Your account will NOT be unfrozen and you will not get your Neopet or items returned. But, you are welcome to create a new account, as long as you follow the rules.

Remember to read our Terms and Conditions thoroughly.
I don't believe this. I'm trying to stay calm but I have so much to lose on this account. I'm submitting a ticket now with as much information about my account as possible but does anyone else have any other ideas as to what I can do? Is there a Premium Frozen Account report I can fill in also?

:(

I know there is a Premium Frozen Account form, I just don't know the link to it cause I don't play anymore. I'm sorry. x.x
But I highly recommend trying to find it and submit it rather than the regular form because the Premium ones usually get the fastest response. Good luck!

HA! Found the link!

Thank you so much Pyro! I've submitted both an ordinary ticket and a Premium form. I hope they can turn this around fairly quickly, all I can think about is logging back in to find all of my shit gone. And I've spent so much on Neocash, ugh! D:

From what I've heard, Neo has become rather open to CGers and crap. It's been going on all summer. I do know if you get the staffie Charlotte, she should be able to get your account back up and running well. Generally speaking, since you did nothing wrong, you should get it back in about a week or two at the latest. =o

I'm so sorry Fury =( I hope you get it back soon and intact!

This CG madness had been going around for two months. I can't believe TNT hasn't found a way to counter it yet.

I wish they stopped denying it, or simply made a few standard shop layouts and leave that part of the site uncustomizable. I wouldn't mind skipping the blinkies and bad music...

The only reason I can think of is that they can't remove all customization from shops or otherwise the big Malls won't work. At least not like the maller's would like. And I think that's a rather large core of really really dedicated Neo users that TNT doesn't want to piss off.

I think they'd have to do something for people to make those image maps onsite, without coding, and that'd be a hassle.

But, man, Fury, I'm so sorry! That's just awful. I keep waiting for it to happen to me, because it is so prevalent right now. I had a dream the other night that I had been CGed, all my pets converted, my Darigan Draik specifically dressed up in frilly, cheap and ugly girl clothes. It really sucks a lot of the fun out of the site.

I hope you have luck with TNT and get a quick response.

Firstly, I'd like to echo the concerns people have for you - hope you won't have to wait too many hundreds of years to get your account back :(

I can think of a few alternatives for TNT as far as not pissing off Mallers goes:

Allow support for malls, much the same way they did for galleries and pet trading (by this I mean taking something the users 'invented' and making it official). This would consist of something like the automatic websites that angelfire could make for you - you put in the URL (or even username) of another maller, and can customise the link text, form style:

Username: Maller1234 ........................... Link Text: "Maller1234 has all your codestone needs"
Username: BigMallGuy ........................... Link Text: "BigMallGuy has medicines for your pet"
(imagine that's an HTML form ok)

They could even allow you to use images hosted at neopets.com, so Maller1234's shop could be linked with a codestone and BigMallGuy with a picture of some sort of medicine item. It wouldn't be nearly as pretty, of course, but it would still work.

They could do it another way by giving you the option to put links to your neofriends shops at the bottom of your shop description, with a checkbox in the neofriends/shop page. Maybe link to their shop with a picture of their shopkeeper or user avatar?

I wish I knew more how these exploits worked so I could think of more ideas - for example neopets could use something like neoHTML in the shops to allow users to have some colour coding and whatnot in their shops. The neoHTML could even be used to let users link and insert images, but if the exploit is something like doing something like what I'm putting below, it won't work because OMG STILL CAN BE EXPLOITED.

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.neopets.com.hacksite.dr/hacks/hackcode.javascript">This is a neopets link haha not really</a>
It'd be a lot of work, of course, but responding to these CG threats (albeit usually with bald faced denials) is probably a little bit of work too.

EDIT: fixing spelling and stuffs.

Oh no, not again. I am so sorry, Fury, I can only imagine how scared and distressed you must be right now. At least it sounds like they locked it up immediately, so hopefully when you get it back, all will be as you left it. *crosses all fingers and toes*

I know I've heard several charter peeps say that they're really good about making sure you get all of your neocash items returned or restored, and if it was frozen while you were in it, then your pets should be intact as well.

God. So upsetting. And, Tiel, you're not the only one who worries. I got logged out while playing NQII last night, right after a visit to the charter boards, and my hands were literally a bit shaky as I logged back in, so sure was I that I'd see that horrible Chia with that horrid 'for your own protection' message.

I also bet you're right, about why they haven't just tossed a few dozen default layouts for shops and galleries at us, and called it good. Even so, much as I love my profiles, I'd really rather they'd shut off coding on those, at the least. It wouldn't nuke malls, and so much cookie grabbing seems to be on profiles.

Good luck, and I hope they get it back to you soon, and just as you left it.

Thank you so much for your help and support, everyone. It's silly to say but it's so distressing. I'm trying to push it to the back of my mind as much as possible but it's hard, especially when you don't know what's happening and if you're even going to get your account back!

My ticket status is still 'open' which means it hasn't been addressed yet. I know they must be swamped with reports of frozen accounts but shit me, I hope they get it sorted out FAST. This is beyond ridiculous and I totally agree to wipe out user-edited content altogether or even to shut the whole site down temporarily if they have to - they need better security and it pisses me off that paying customers are treated like this. Bastards.

Having sent in a 'ticket' and a Premium frozen account form, is there anything else anyone can suggest? Is it worth e-mailing Charlotte or another member directly? Has anyone had any luck in that area before?

Again, thank you all so much for your support! It means a lot.

I'll be honest, the staff is rather...meh, but Charlotte, from what I've heard, is the best to talk with rather than an automated message. This is just going off from what I've seen on Jellyneo's forums. She seems to understand the frustration. Hey, you've got nothing to lose if you want e-mail her. Lemme see if I can find her address...

Thank you Pyro but I've managed to find it. I am thinking of sending off the same e-mail to every staff members e-mail address I can find. I've typed up an e-mail which sounds perhaps curt in places but basically I'm not taking any shit. I pay real money for their services and I damn well expect to be treated fairly.

AND FUCKING SHITNUTS BOLLOCKS, I've just seen that the new Mystery Capsule Adventure has started. If I don't get my account returned before that first Capsule retires, I am going to go apeshit.

Excuse the language. 8|

-hugs- I can't imagine the stress you've been put through, as I never held much attachment to Neo, but it is frustrating with them.

Along with so many other folks accounts my main account was also victim to a CG'er and was "Frozen for it's owners protection" some hours after I had a Baby Paint Brush stolen from it - freezing is adding insult to injury for sure.....

I don't have a Premium account, just a regular one, and I submitted a ticket 18 days ago but have heard nothing whatsoever to date. I submitted the ticket via the frozen account, but since I'm unable to log in I'm also unable to track the progress (if any) of the ticket that I submitted...

So, out of frustration as much as anything, I submitted a second ticket today via a side account with lots of additional info and a screen shot of the original activation email & code for the account - which should at least verify beyond all possible doubt that I am the owner. Now at least I can follow the progress of the ticket.

Anyhow, I happened to notice that the ticket number I got allocated today was 23,000 higher than the one I was allocated 18 days ago...which presumably means that they are getting over 1000 tickets a day to deal with right now, an indication perhaps of the level of the security crisis underway?

Oh no, I'm so sorry! I really hope you get everything sorted as soon as possible. This really is a pandemic that needs some serious attention given to it - how many other innocent people are going to get frozen and have to wait in complete darkness for 2 weeks until they even know whether they're going to be able to get their account back?

Shit. That is just... ugh. I am not holding out much hope in getting my account back for at least another week now. It's super sad but Neopets is sort of an addiction for me - it's the first thing I do when I turn on my computer and even though I'm not someone who has to log on every day and do this and do that otherwise the world might end, I just hate not knowing how far I am away from knowing my account is being returned to me. Actually, pathetically, the thing that's pissing me off the most is that the new Mystery Capsule adventure has started and I really wanted to go for the 'get all the LE's' bonus prize this time. I wouldn't have nearly enough boxes to send everything back over to my main account from my side, however. D:

Just for the record, my ticket status is still 'Open'. *gives TNT the finger*
