DS + Games + X-Ray = ???

Post by Silverevilchao »

I'm going away for two weeks, and going on a plane.

Since people are so paranoid, they have to do an x-ray scan of any container. Will that kill my DS and its games? The x-rays, I mean.

I doubt it, otherwise there would be lots of po'd people. They might do other tests instead as well, like just look at it or turn it on. I took my DS and two laptops through customs fine.

I have never had a problem with game boys, but I do know I lost a DVD last time I went through the airport. Most DVDs seem to be fine, but my copy of Rocky Horror wasn't so lucky x.x If you ask them, though, they will handcheck carry ons with electronics, and it is better to be safe than sorry, you know.

I've never had a problem with electronics - ipod, phone, GPS, batteries, hard disks (I wouldn't count on getting a floppy through intact though).

The amount of electronic gizmos people take on planes these days is so huge, even if the machines fried 1 piece in every 10,000 there'd be warnings posted everywhere.

What's the storage medium for DS games anyway? Are they still using magnetic cartridges?

Like Will said - if in doubt, ask them when you get there.

When I went to Japan, my CD player would act funky for a short while after being turned on after being scanned, but it would clear up after some use. My GBA and the games I got worked perfectly fine after being scanned

just keep all your electronics in one bag and ask them to handcheck them. I went flying 1.5 years ago, and had a digital camera, gameboy, cd-player, cell phone, cds, and i put them in my carry-on. I just handed that and asked them to not send it through the machine.

I'm going away in a few months with even MORE electronics. (i thought electronics made things easier!?) Everything will be in my carry-on to get handchecked.

I'd say you have more chance of your electronics getting stolen than fried by x-rays. : )

Also, if you bring a computer, that counts as a "briefcase" and you can still have a carry bag as a purse or backpack.

That is a beautiful rule, and I always take full advantage of it. ;)

Ain't it? hell...i'm putting all my chargers in my laptop bag because if they loose my luggage, I'll have a bunch of dead electronic equipment in a day or so. Its just gonna hide in the overhead compartment. My backpack will have all my other gadgets, and a book.
