XBox 360 games?

Post by bonecrivain »

My brother just bought an XBox 360, and I realized this is the perfect Christmas present opening: he only owns one game (Elder Scrolls IV), so I'd like to get him another. But I don't know anything about these new-fangled game systems and don't know what games are awesome and which ones are crappy.

He tends to like the role-playing games (like the Elder Scrolls one he already has) the best, so I'd lean towards something in that vein.

Any suggestions? Favorite games? Hit me with whatever you've got. =)

I don't own a 360 myself, but by all reports you can't go wrong with Gears of War.

And when is Mass Effect coming out?

I wouldn't recommend a third-person shooter to someone who likes RPGs best.

But then again, I don't know that there are many RPGs that are good on the 360. (I don't even like Elder Scrolls much, hehe.)

Edit: I moved this to the game forum. ^_^

There aren't -- the XBox isn't really an RPG-heavy platform in general. It's too busy being For Grownups and possibly slightly Ghetto. I tend to assume that people who favor RPGs will enjoy games of other genres if they are good enough, because I'm like that myself. They're like huge, incredibly well-realized minigames!

Now I'm trying to imagine a plot that would somehow link Amplitude, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, the Sims 2, Starcraft, and God of War, as though they were minigames. I'm concerned that plot may be, uh, my life.

Oh, yeah: Kameo is more of an action game, but it's for the 360 and apparently pretty playable.

I want to try Dead Rising for xbox 360, but I'm not sure if that's the sort of thing I should really recommend... XD Gore-filled zombie game ftw!

Otherwise, I don't own either an Xbox or 360, but there aren't really many games that appeal to me, either. :/ Not enough to justify getting a system for, anyways.

Ha, I totally forgot this forum existed. =) Thanks for moving it, Ty.

And thanks for the suggestions...I'm sure my brother would like games that aren't solely RPGs, but I'll have to look into it a bit more.

Not quite on topic, but I'm dying to get an XBOX360 just to play Viva Pinata. Its like Neopets, but in 3-D, and fully playable game form. My tongue salivates at the very idea.
