How dare you make me fall into temptation. **shakes fist** Hehehe, I could help myself, I had to steal your idea. **sheepish** Though I'm not happy with the colour of the pet, I thought it would look better. **shrugs** I like the art of some of the pets and items but it doesn't really impress me. Though I shall check on it now and again just to see what they are comeing up with.

The artwork is nice... Not sure about the features though.

I signed up... mostly to see all the pets available for creation, but also because who knows, the site could be big in a couple years and I'll want the username Cranberry (or I won't want anyone else to have it, whatever). I created a cute little guy:

And I made a shop and a bank account. There's not much else to do. The art's nice. I agree with the criticism of this thread's first post and the site's welcome blurb, though... the site's not ready to be advertised like this yet, and it needs some different features to stand out. Shops, "clans," and a battledome are not new.

There's a little bit more to do now -- there are quests. Initially I thought they were idiotic, but having done a few I begin to suspect that they are either idiotic or clever. If I give the designer the benefit of the doubt, it looks like their purpose is to keep the prices of items from ever dropping below a certain point due to market saturation. A quest for an Okami of Heaven is always worth 9,180 LP, and it tells you this before you take the quest (which you can cancel at any time, having taken it) -- notably, exactly one third their cost in the official shops (though this is the only sample I've taken). So, the moment their price drops below that point, they get bought up for quests. Immediately, because there is no daily quest limit. Most people will want prices to drop pretty far, for more profit, but there's always going to be some jerk who's willing to accept a one-LP profit.

Once the pattern has stabilized, this will not be a real moneymaker. I personally have driven the prices of a few items up to their quest values (by being a jerk -- as soon as I saw how much a quest for a Watermelon was worth I bought up all the Watermelons below that price), and I would have done it to more items if I had had the patience at this point to earn more than about six hundred LP, but the economy will never be in this state again, unless they cycle items into and out of the quests -- and if they do that those items will only stay below quest value for a day, if that long, so that won't be viable until LunaPets has a huge number of items. Most of us have seen how the Recycle Beast works.

The quests NPC is pretty, if not hugely original. It may be a Tanuki redraw, though the image isn't in the usual pet image directory.

Okay, so for the quests... you keep the item after you earn your reward. And I just checked the forums, and the site creator says this isn't a glitch; the "point" of the quest is to simply find the item and not actually give it over.

The top 3 rewards are about 64,000 points, 25,000 points, and 9,000 points for 3 battle items. If you work your way up, or happen to buy one of those 3 items for cheap in a usershop, you have unlimited money. I just made over 2 million in 20 minutes by accepting only those 3 quests and getting 9-60k at a time without ever losing my items. :|

I don't think they're thinking the economy through on this one.

Holy crap. I had not noticed that -- it never occurred to me to check my inventory to see if the items were being removed. Now I have a bunch of Watermelons I don't need and I'm entirely confused, because economically speaking this makes no sense. It's an 'infinite money' button. I guess they do say money will be easy to make, but what's the point if that money is entirely worthless? And what reason have I, now, to engage in any other money-making activity on Lunapets?

Hm. How do you get the initial money needed to buy those items? I can't for the life of me figure out how to make LP.

Edit: Haha, nevermind. I bought some food and a book and slowly worked my way up to 2k doing quests, and purchased the dragon blade for that much from a usershop. Now I have it and the 9k weapon... is it worth saving up 1mil and buying the scythe from usershops? Does it rs for a lot cheaper? I haven't seen one in the shop yet.

Also, I had to screenshot this... my very first begging mail at the site, received as soon as I started making money (although I don't think she knew that):

Image

I wrote back explaining how to make LP quickly, and she said, "well c thats what i wanted 2 do, i was wondering if u could load me 1000 lp and then i could buy that dragon blade! lol." I didn't respond, so she mailed again: "hey if u have all that lp anyway, could i just borrow 1000lp anyway? i'll still pay u back..."

Edit 2: I didn't reply to that one, either, and she wrote again, asking me to buy a 1k apple from her shop. This annoyed me, so I went out and bought all the 2k dragon blades... now she needs another 23k instead of 1k. If any NCers want a dragon blade so you can accept all the quests for it, let me know.

Even though you already figured it out... the same thing happened to me, I was online late one night and a shop had 6 of 'em for under 10k. Probably because they too found out about the quests and got such a load of money it felt ridiculous to even worry about profits anymore.

The Scythe restocks for around 200k in shops, I think? But in usershops you can find it for 90k and under if you're on late at night.

I've made 1.5 mil so far... not bad. I haven't found a scythe yet, though.

Is this the only way to make decent LP? I poked around and didn't find much else to do.

Oh geez... the quest is basically a money generator. I went ahead and bought a scythe for 1 million out of a user shop, and promptly made the points back from quests. (More productive than wasting time waiting for a cheaper scythe.) I stopped at 2.5 million. I think I'll keep myself there until there are more things to do around the site.

I have a little over 3 mil now, and there's nothing to do with it. I can't color my pets, there aren't petpets/minions, there aren't even any pretty items I really want. I hope this place adds more to do soon.

Signed up, tried to log in, and it wouldn't accept my password. Bah. Oh well, I would have abandoned it as soon as Subeta got running again anyway . . .

You're not missing a lot. There have been absolutely no developments since the middle of November. She might be dead, Jim.

Apparently the owner sold the site and nothing has happened since then.

Who would buy it and then.. do nothing with it?

Well, furious activity may be taking place behind the scenes.

Or the new owner may just want to sit on the intellectual property for a while and then cannibalize it for some other project.
