Meteor Games - Adam and Donna's new venture
This is a good a place as any for this to go into..
http://www.meteorgames.com/press_archiv ... 0-2008.htm
So this is what theyve been up to all these years. Its a "casual" MMO, which is a step up from what Neopets used to be. Some of the concept art in the press release is cool looking. Nothing else further, in so far as screenshots, has been released ..yet.
Something else I was given the url of:

The interview is VERY interesting, and obviously pokes at Neopets..and what it is now.

I sort of like the idea of a casual MMO, because I can't really get into hardcore training and I spend most of my time just wandering around most games. I like that they are targeting an older audience, I just hope they don't go back on the idea like they did with Neopets.

Ohh I really like the concept art they have so far. I'm hoping it will be playable on my Mac, as they sorely lack in MMOs. They said something about a web-based browser part of it so that in theory should work on a mac, but I hope the actual game will as well.

Hah! I knew it. Or rather, it's what I would have done with the Neopets universe, if I had a couple hundred million dollars to spend, instead of a dress up system. I'm curious to see what the final result will be since they don't have to worry about brand integrity, or whatever you want to call it, because it's not part of the Neopets world.
I find those statements mildly amusing.Adam wrote:I think the key is never underestimate your players because they aren't stupid...
Staying in touch with your users and listening to what they have to say is absolutely paramount.

*resists the urge to get excited about this and fails dismally*
This looks like it could be fascinating - and if it's pitched like Neo was when I first started playing, then it could be really good. ::fingers crossed::

They have a website up now, taken from that interview on Jellyneo.

I love the sense of humor it has.

British spelling! *swoon*Seerow wrote:http://www.twinskies.com/

What British spelling? Or do you just mean in general because it's Adam and Donna?
Oh em gee— no, not you. I love you, really but not you—humans exist! I am still curious. Not hopeful, or excited, but still curious.
I do like this particular skill description.
Disbelief: Increases your resistance to magic, not that it exists, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I finally got a chance to check this out, and I think it looks really promising. I'm never really interested in MMOs (...except for Ragnarok. Shut up. Go away) but this reminds me of RO a little bit, so I'm looking forward to see what they do with it :D

Which reminds me, Gabe and Tycho are hosting a contest in which they're giving away free passes and hotel room reservations for PAX....From the FAQ wrote:When is the MMO itself going to be ready?
We're going to be at Penny Arcade Expo in August of this year.
I've had trouble falling into MMOs in the past, but this looks really interesting. I'll definitely give it a shot when it's finally released.

Aww crap, i wanna go ;__; I'd enter the contest, but since my car needs all this work, there's no way I could afford to fly, or drive, or hitchhike to Seattle to use the free room and passes. Apparently they've had an active Twin Skies forum for about a month now and as of yesterday you can also create a site account and a character. It's still pretty confusing though.
My forum/character's name there is aud.

I signed up as Huggles. Apparently, you need to register for both the forums and the rest of the site. I signed up from the link on the news page and had to create a separate account to post.
