Hair Removal!
I shave my calves, underarms, toes, feet, and my arms too when they start getting unruly. I don't like to shave my upper leg. It takes too much time after I've done my calves and you can't really tell there's hair anyway. I trim/shave "down there" every few days. And I pluck my brows probably every two days. They used to be out of control after one day but I guess after so many years of plucking, the roots are starting to stop growing back. Maybe -- I don't know.
My dad thinks he's pretty macho, but when my mom plucked his eyebrows once, he cried (hahaha).
I have really thick, dark hair, especially in my pits. Even after I shave, it looks like I have stubble. It sucks. So my mom and I are going to start get hair removal treatments together when we have enough money.
I like hairy guys, if it suits them. A little facial hair is cute, though not as cute when smooching.

I really don't have too much hair anywhere, so it's not important at all to shave my legs during the winter. (This is Michigan we're talking about here. A place where you're guaranteed 25"- 40" of accumulated snow between November through mid April) I pay close attention to all other areas under arm and give down there a good trim every couple of weeks. I do actually remember one year I shaved *everything* off with Nair depliatory.....(I'm positive that bottle probably says not to remove hair down there with it, but I'm terrified of using a razor.) And now that I think about it, I wasn't trying to impress anyone at the time, I just did it for the hell of it. It hurt really bad to say the least. Never again. As far as guys go, little to no hair is preferred, but to be fair too much hair disgusts me so I'd be shaving too.

Interesting topic *laughs* I shave my legs, armpits and down below as often as required. I do so for myself mostly, I wear trousers most of the time so it wouldn't matter if I didn't, and I don't think Jonny even notices - but the feel of hair on my legs or anywhere really disturbs me greatly. My arm hair is almost blonde for some reason (I'm dark haired) so it isn't a problem and I don't have hair anywhere else.
I do trim my eyebrows but I don't have a clue what I'm doing so I just keep them tidy rather than shaping them.
As for men, facial hair is fine as long as it is tidy and suits the person. Body hair is fine also, though chest hair makes me squick a little for some reason. And down below I prefer trimmed, not shaved on a guy. Overall I like it if a guy trims his body hair and shaves his facial hair, but not the other way round!

Oh, no, it itches like you're being poked with little tiny pokey things all right. Especially when you have extremely coarse hair, as does yours truly. But in exchange for the suffering, one gets ... er ... someone help me out here, why do we put ourselves through this?Wingsrising wrote:I'm still curious: does it not itch like you're being poked with little tiny pokey things when you trim "down there"?
If not, I wonder if that means I'm doing something wrong or just that I have stubborn hair.
so you /don't/ save your boyfriend money on dental floss?Twofold Black wrote:Oh, no, it itches like you're being poked with little tiny pokey things all right. Oh yeah! Now I can relax.EofS wrote:The satisfaction that you're conforming with arbitrary sociatel norms?
Also: makes it look bigger.
Wingsrising and I aren't even talking about shaving, we're talking about trimming. I don't think shaving's a norm -- it is generally regarded as faintly naughty, a vanilla sort of naughtiness, like owning fluffy handcuffs.Trick wrote:It gets easier the more you do it really. Especially if you shave in the shower.
Edit:
I suppose that does make the poking worth it.Illuen wrote:so you /don't/ save your boyfriend money on dental floss?
The preceding sentence could have contained a crass, tasteless and, to my sensibility, extremely funny joke. Count yourselves lucky and/or unlucky.
That's gotta be the only real reason, which is stupid in itself...I don't need it to look bigger.Twofold Black wrote:makes it look bigger.
Keeps it slightly more attractive I'd suppose, like cutting your head hair or trimming a beard, keeps the hairs the same sort of length and makes it look neater...which would make it less unpleasant to be in that general area in whatever capacity.
since this is the body hair thread, I just gave my whole face a going over, chin, eyebrows and sideburns. I feel so neat...
Edit: also, no poking here.
