Do you realize that the first question anyone asked me on the NC chat -- possibly the second, after my name -- was whether I shave my man parts? And the criminal returns to the scene of the crime, and the dog returns to its vomit. Which has a hair in it, apparently.
I shave my face (as infrequently as possible, which is not very damn), trim elsewhere. I'm considering experimenting with facial hair -- for some reason my sister thinks I would look good in a soul patch -- but am acutely conscious of the fact that if I did so Ensign Edison would probably not ever look at or touch me again. My feeling with regard to men is generally the less hair, the better, presumably because I have some kind of latent, unrealized NAMBLA membership. Women, I don't care. Trim the ones coming out of your nose and we're good.

I only shave my lower legs, armpits, and bikini line + trim occasionally (edit: oh yeah, tweeze eyebrows into a nice arch shape everyday too). I used to shave everything, but it's such a hassle and it starts growing back the very next day in an uncomfortable, unsightly manner. Plus, shaving always leaves the tiny hair roots visible. I don't know if that's the curse of being Italian, or does every woman deal with that?
And I guess I'm in the ever-shrinking minority of women who like hairy men. Fit and rugged, mind you; not the pasty, unkempt couch potato that might bring to mind. u_u; I just think it's very masculine, and while I've ogled a wiiiiide variety of males, that's ultimately my ideal. At the moment, anyway.

I shave under the arms, legs and bikini line, pluck my eyebrows and trim down there. I would never shave down there cause I know it would be impossible for me to do. If I had to have it done, it would be professionally
As for guys, I like as little hair as possible (don't know about down there cause I haven't gotten that far ._. )

Note that my comment about willingness to do pubic chaving depending on whether or not HE would be willing to do it has nothing to do with my feelings about hair on men. (What really doesn't appeal to me is the underarm hair, actually. Other than that I have no strong feelings unless we're talking VERY hairy.)
It's just my general feeling is if someone expects me to do something I don't want to do because he asked, he ought to be willing to do it too if *I* ask him too.
It's interesting reading the responses. Plucking my eyebrows is something else I've never bothered to do. Wouldn't know how. Also, my mother pulled her eyebrows OUT (OCD) so I'm sort of paranoid about eyebrow-plucking.
*Is* there a way to trim without the hairs feeling all stiff and itchy and pokey for days afterwards? I don't mind the idea of trimming (it would be tidier under bathing suits) but every time I've tried it I've regretted it.

Okay, then I have a question xD Is it easier to trim the hair first, THEN shave, or just dive right in with a razor and shaving cream? >_>;AngharadTy wrote:I heal really slowly, in general, but I've been surprised at how very very quickly that whole region heals. Probably because wounds there are just surficial. It's really not that scary.jessibean wrote:... but I'm terrified of cutting myself >_> Shaving cuts SUCK.
And I can't stand hair on guys ;__; I hate hair on their chest, and I hate it when they have a big ass happy trail. Some facial hair is okay but otherwise, ugh. ...Good thing I don't deal with men xD
That's why I used to have mine waxed; that way I could at least SEE where to pluck at, and I would just pluck the new hair as it came in. Was much much easier.Wingsrising wrote:Plucking my eyebrows is something else I've never bothered to do. Wouldn't know how. GO EPILATORS!
xD
For those that you who don't know what they are - they're these incredibly amusing electric things which 'pluck' out the hairs. My mother had a very early one which was basically this long coil of a spring which whipped around in a circle really fast (with a loud, terrifying noise) and ripped the hairs out.
Mine's a little less crude; has 'tweezer' like things around the surface of this wheel that rolls around. Still kinda painful and noisy, but for some reason I find it really entertaining.. xD

Trim first, but it's okay if it looks like a hack job when you're just going to follow up by shaving it off.jessibean wrote:Okay, then I have a question xD Is it easier to trim the hair first, THEN shave, or just dive right in with a razor and shaving cream? >_>;
I can't do my eyebrows--I've tried all the "tricks" that I found on various websites and through the telemavision, but it hurts too much for me to care about it.

I once pulled a third of an eyebrow out because I was bored. It's still something I risk doing out of boredom, but I've never again gone so far as to take a full third off the end of my eyebrow.Wingsrising wrote:Plucking my eyebrows is something else I've never bothered to do. Arms, lower legs, and all of my pubic hair. Yes, it is a bit difficult, especially in a small shower like we have in the dorms. But I like the feeling of being bare down below....if I had the money I'd get waxed, though.
I've gotten my eyebrows electroylized, so the hairs don't come back supposedly. I'd get that done to my lower parts, too....yeah, I don't like hairy girlybits.

Okay, you have to watch the "I've got a Secret" video....
It's relevant, I swear. You're not going to think so at first, but give it a minute...
Oh it's not safe for work, BTW.

Shave? Who needs to shave!?
I'm not a very shaven person. When I care to do it, I only shave my armpits and legs up to about mid thigh. The armpits usually go when it gets to be a bit of a forest, and the legs only when it's enough to be itchy.
Funny story about the armpits though. So I'm stuck in the dealers room at Worldcon, and about every day this guy with creepy vibes comes up and hits on me. His pick up line was "It's good to see someone who's not plastic like other girls." Well finally on the last day he comes and asks me if I'd like to model for him and if I had any other hippie friends. Because apparently not having shaved my armpits in awhile made me a hippie. I turned him down as politely as I could by explaining that I'm not actually a hippie.
So yeah. I leave my pubic hair pretty much just the way it is, as all previous experiences with shaving and trimming down there have ended in pain and itching. I've found that it's much easier to wear swim trunks then worry about a bikkini line.

Haha, I love these threads. So entertaining to read.
I stick to shaving, since all the experiences I've had with waxing are painful and leave my skin looking all red and irritated. As long as you get a good razor you can get just as clean a job, though it won't last as long.
I shave my underarms and everything below the waist. Dexterity and contorted postions = must. xD But I don't like hair down there. It's uncomfortable and rather unsanitary. I watched a show once saying that it's actually much better to shave down there since hair just keeps in moisture and odours and all sorts of gross stuff, and we don't even need it anymore since the invention of clothing. =P I don't really bother with plucking my eyebrows since my bangs cover them completely.
As for males, I'm not a big fan of hairy guys. Back and chest hair are gross, moreso the back though. And I like when they're completely shaved in the crotch area. It's all smooth and fun.

The only thing I shave regularily is my armpits.. I'll shave my legs in the summer too, though. I've tried shaving my nether regions a few times, but it's not easy to do and itches, plus I'm not sure I like how it looks. I like trimming there better.
With guys, I'm happy with mine because he's not all that hairy. XD I don't really like hairy guys.. For crotch hair I don't know because we've never done anything involving that area (only met him twice in person so far).
