The ONLY movie you need to see this winter!
The ONLY movie you need to see this winter!
I know this is somewhat small for most people, but for Theatre and Broadway geeks, it is kinda major. As some of you may know, Sweeney Todd is being made into a movie by Tim Burton, starring Johnny Depp, and the trailer has finally come out, which needs to be seen by all.

Now, I've been waiting for this movie since I heard it was going to be made. I was really worried at first, when the fact that it was going to be Depp/Burton, simply because Todd is a very Opera like musical, and it is hard singing. The trailer has just totally amazed me though, and I'm definitely going opening night (not that I wasn't going before I saw the trailer, but now I'll be even more excited to go).
If you don't like Musicals, there are still half a million reasons to go:
- Lots of blood, guts, and cannibalism.
-Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman AND Sacha Baron Cohen are all in it, with fantastically fun roles.
- If none of that gets to you, you can pretend you're in an AU HP world with Snape and Bellatrix? Really, just go and see it.

No spoony bard could spin a sweeter tale.

I've never actually heard of this musical before. But the trailer looks wicked. I'll be certain to check this film out when it's released.
Re: The ONLY movie you need to see this winter!
is sweeney todd the one where people are made into pies..? I seem to remember something like that from many years ago when I was little.. :s Like, its a barbers or something? *has probably just had some twisted dream or something*
Anyway, if its a Tim Burton film it must be good, I swear he hasn't made a bad film ever
EDIT: Helena Bonham Carter's in it?! I LOVE her! One of my fave actors

I will see this if I have to walk 20 miles in the snow by myself.

I have some Artsy/Theater type friends that I'm sure will go with me, and my other friends I'll just play up the whole Johnny Depp bit.

I've never seen the musical, but one of my friends gave me a mix tape with "A Little Priest" on it, and now the song's stuck in my head. The movie looks like fun, I'll have to remember to see it when it comes out.

The only Broadway show I've seen is The Lion King, but you have me intrigued. *Goes to look up info*

I generally hate musicals (STOP THE INFERNAL CHEESY SINGING!), but this one may be bearable and more. I'll see about it.
Re: The ONLY movie you need to see this winter!
Ok I need to see this, I love the story of Sweeny Todd {now if only they would do one about that family of cannibals that used to live in the Highlands. Why yes, I did learn about them from the Edinburgh Dungeons, why do you ask? >_>}
Since this is a Tim Burton film I would likely be dragged along by my best friend even if I didn't wanna go see it {she's a major fan of his films}, but since I'm just as excited about this as she is bound to be, we can start planning now ^_^.

Yeah that's it. I forgot his name there , that's embarrassing. I love that kinda thing though, that part of the dungeons is my favourite because the actors there just make it seem so funny. Naturally it wasn't all that funny for the victims but such is life.

Sigh.
I will go anywhere Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter go, and Sacha Baron Cohen is beautifully cast here ... but god, I'm tired of Tim Burton, and while I freely acknowledge that Johnny Depp is better than I want to give him credit for, he's no George Hearn.
