Stumble Upon

Post by Monkeyguy »

Does anyone use the stumble upon extension for firefox? I saw it on the add ons page a long time ago and I didn't think that I would like/use it enough to install it. But, I installed it about 2 hours ago and I've just managed to stop myself from clicking "Stumble!" one more time.

Here are some of my favorites that I've come across so far:

http://www.jacksonpollock.org/
http://www.zefrank.com/byokal/kal2.html
http://www.sketchswap.com/
http://www2.framestore-cfc.com/

Have any nice stumbles you'd like to share?

Edit: For those who don't know, Stumble Upon is a Firefox add-on that takes you to a random website related to interests that you choose.

It's not just a Firefox add-on; it works for IE, too.

And yes, I use it a whole lot. You can see all the sites I like at the handy link here.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's not a new thing, though I was only introduced to it about a month ago, so it's not the latest sensation sweeping the nation or anything.

I didn't know that it was available in IE as well, that's neat. And yes, it has been around for a while, but it's new to me. Here is a link to all of my favorites.

Hah, sorry, I didn't mean to be snippy at you. :P The other day I was poking around a forum (I forget where, now) where there were multiple topics about people going OMG WOW about sites that've been around for years (Pandora, del.ico.us, bored.com, flickr, etc) and I wanted to poke my eyeballs out and then theirs.

So, yeah, if my post reflected that residue, it's at mankind, not people who just discovered Stumble, haha.

It's actually madly addicting and the BEST boredom-curer I've been able to find. Poor Bon has been barraged with new Stumble links I find. "Look at THIS! Ooh, and this, oh and THIS is funny and wow you've GOT to see this and aww lookit!"

Another site that I believe is similar in nature to StumbleUpon is Blinklist.com. I've got a handy little button that sits in my bookmarks toolbar that says "blink this site", and when I find somethink I like I click it, tag it, and it's added to my list of Blinked sites. You can also create a buddy list and check out what all your friends are Blinking.

Haha, I have been a bit bombarded. But it's interesting. =) I should actually add it myself; I never seem to do much online nowadays, so it's a fun concept.

Forgive me if this is a well-known website, but I cannot believe I had never known about it before:
http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page
The Gutenberg project, bringing all public-domain books together for you to read! Please donate, as it is a valiant cause.
EDIT: Heh, sorry. Just had to try it. Better one to look at, less spam and more found-with-Stumble: Stumble'd!

Well, it's not really on topic, and if you weren't an established member, it'd be spam... but we'll pretend that you stumbled upon it or something. ;P It's a great site.

This website I found today is pretty interesting. It's a study on faces. It has a bunch of experiments and questionnaires to participate in on facial attractiveness and other qualities. It's crazy how tiny differences can impact the attractiveness of a persons face. Also in the demos section there is program that averages faces to create new ones that is a lot of fun to play with.
