Nightmare Priggle + Revamped GY Velosotor

I think the Priggle is strangely adorable, even though it's a Nightmare pet. xD I like the wispy bits coming off of it, and the details on the spines are really nice.

While the Velosotor is certainly an improvement on the original, there's still something that looks odd about it. I can't quite put my finger on the reason, but the artwork doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the current pets...I don't know. I really like the ripped off tail (though admittedly it sort of seems like they ran out of room in the box and lopped off the tail for that xD ), and the skeletal arm. The gory bits are good, but I don't really like how the eye looks. The pose is a bit awkward as well.

Hahaha, the tail was originally there, but in order to fit it, we had to zoom out quite a bit on the velosotor. So, technically, you're half-right.

I quite enjoy the Priggle, but then they are one of my favorite species so not really a surprise. I love the face so so much, even if it doesn't look very fierce :P The spikes and wisps are all very cute as well. If Hydrus didn't fit Jeremy so well, I might be tempted to change his color.

The Velosotaur is okay for what it is. I don't much like the species so nothing short of a miracle would improve them for me. I do like the chopped off tail and the gory bits. The pose is a little strange but then I just assumed he probably has issues moving his legs due to deteriorating muscles and it worked out a bit better.

The Velosotor is not very impressive. There's a lot negative space both on top and the bottom of the box. Even then, the pet itself looks too small. The gory bits are nice and everything, but what's more horrifying is the negative space. Sorry, just not my cup of tea.

And the Nightmare Priggle, it's very hard for me to make out the details on it's sides. I like the sharp quills though. At least the artist used up most of the space on this guy. Personally, I wanted to see some new Glacier pets. =/

The GY Velosotor had a good chance, and this happened? Ugh. The tail looks awful, there's so much white space, and the pet is tiny. It's a damn shame, since I generally love the Velosotors.

The priggle is ... eh, not really a fan of priggles to begin with.

The Velosotor is my favorite species on the site. Every time I go to create a new pet, the Velosotor colours page is always the first place I go. I know that next time I use a mystical plushie, this guy will definitely be a contender.

I think part of the reason I like them so much is how different they are. It's nice to have some variation on the site. Not everyone wants fat, goofy, fluffy pets all the time (and that's coming from someone who owns a Chibi Tutani and Mallarchy). The Velosotors are consistently sleek and sneaky and they provide a nice alternative to all the cutesy pets.

This thing is damn ugly and I love it for that. It looks like it just crawled up out of the ground and lost a few bits on the way. For a graveyard pet, I'm going to call that a huge success.

The negative space argument is something I don't really get. I think maybe the Velosotor looks a little smaller than it actually is when compared directly to the Priggle, but that thing takes up literally almost the entire box. I don't think that's a fair comparison. Priggles are supposed to be these chubby little blobs with round bodies that have plenty of ways to take up the full space. Velosotors are long, thin dinosaurs with skinny limbs and elongated necks. There's only so many ways you can fit all those parts into such a little box. When you look at all the Velosotor revamps, I think the diversity of their poses is commendable. This one is no exception. Unlike so many generic, bland redraws that come out, this one actually adds something different to the site.

Conversely, the problem I have with the Priggle is how cute it is. It's an adorable species and I understand the challenge of trying to make something so cute look evil but I think this was a missed opportunity. There's going to be plenty of cute Priggles: the default ones, chibi, spectrum, galactic, angelic, glade... If you want a cute Priggle, you're covered. I think this was one of the few chances to branch out and make a really nasty-looking one and give people some choices. Like I said, not everyone wants All Cute All The Time.

I also am a fervent Velosotor fan. :) My first pet on Subeta was a Twilight Velosotor, though I have to say I'm not quite as fond of them after their revamp as I was before.

Still, I'm a big dinosaur fan and raptors have always been a favourite. I actually have no real problems with the Graveyard one other than the eye...I'm not sure why I dislike it so much, but the expression it gives the face just doesn't do anything for me. Actually if there was an empty eye socket there instead I think I would love this pet a lot more. ^^

While I agree with you on your thoughts on the Velosotor, Topher, I don't really see how this Priggle fits being under "All cute, all the time." I'd hardly call it cute, except perhaps by default since it -is- a Priggle, but I think it looks plenty evil and vicious. Priggles always look rather squishy to me, despite being covered in little spikes (kind of like how hedgehogs feel like brushes, not like spiky things), but you certainly wouldn't want to hug this beast, unless you felt like bleeding -quite- a bit. Those claws and that grin and the mace-like tail are not something I'd want to mess with. It's round and fat because it's a Priggle, but I definitely don't think its cute. I think it looks painful.

I have to agree with others about the white space on the Velosotor, however, and I don't think it being next to the Priggle really has much to do with it. I love how its an action pose, but I feel like if it were not leaning over quite as much, it might fill out better? It's hard to explain. I just feel like detail can be lost on pets when they don't take up the 200x200 square as well. But I love the overall action of it, and I love how there's goo flying from its broken tail, heh - it's a nice touch.

For such an adorable species I think the Nightmare Priggle looks surprisingly evil! I love the sinister grin and all those sharp spines, I think it's my favourite Priggle so far.

I like the Velosotor, and the white space doesn't really both me, some pets are just hard to fit into a box! I think the artwork is great and the flesh bits look really good. I love the little bone arm as well.

As usual, Topher said exactly what I'd like to say, only far better than I would've managed to say it. I knew as soon as I saw the Velosotor that people would be bitching about the white space, even though, as Topher said, there are only so many ways to fill a box when you begin with a long-legged beastie as your starting point.

I too see this one as a definite win, and further as a lovely opportunity for people who want something besides CUTEOMG all the time.

Speaking of cuteomg, that priggle's pretty damn. Although I don't think it was supposed to be, so maybe the grin should've been a little less of 'scritch me under my floofy chin plz' and a little more towards the 'wanna lose a finger, come closer' side of the force.

Man, I really like that Velosotor; don't really want one, but then, I never want a graveyard pet. But if I did, this one would probably be the one I went for.

WHOA, totally unexpected revamp and addition since October is long past <333

First of all, I LOVE THIS PRIGGLE OMFG ;o; then again I own 3 of them so lol
Once I figure out what pet I want to use this for, i'm totally getting one <333
Plus it's such a nice suprise since I was very dissapointed with the reborn priggle.
This one is just GORGEOUS ;D

I also have to agree with some people that the negative space doesn't bother me
on this velosotor. It really is difficult to come up with interesting poses for
fairly long legged creatures plus I do think this one fills up the square pretty
well since it stretches all the way across the canvas instead of having HUGE
amounts of white space only on the top or bottom like some pets.

Otherwise it's a great improvement over an old, ugly velosotor (I really hate the
old GY one soooo much >:U)

The Velosotor seems to have been done by the same artist who did the GY Feli. It has the same problem as the other one - the lines seem slightly blurred. It's driving me insane! ...though the rest of the pet is still awesome.

Like the Priggle, too.

This!!!! Argh, that's what's been bothering me about it! The lineart doesn't seem quite as sharp and it's been bugging me because I couldn't really tell what was odd looking about it. ><

I feel the same way about the Graveyard Velosotor as I did about the Graveyard Montre: they're dynamic and pretty (insofar as graveyard can be considered "pretty") and use their available space nicely. I can see how the Velosotor seems small, especially directly next to the giant ball of Priggle, but as others have said, they're completely different types of pets. I like that the Graveyard Velosotor is significantly smaller, leaner, and more ragged than the similarly awesome Bloodred Velosotor. Not every pet needs to fill the entire square; I think focusing too heavily on that can remove some creative freedom.

I love the fleshless arm, the creepy eye, and.....well, the entire pose, really. Velosotors always have so much personality built into them. They have such wonderfully sneaky faces, and more variety in their poses than most other Subeta-pets. And--well, I'm joining the I-Completely-Agree-With-What-Topher-Said group; he said everything I was thinking much more clearly. The fact that the Velosotor is so different should be a positive thing! Even though I have mostly cute, fluffy pets, I like that other types exist on the site. The artist did an excellent job, as usual.

And after much squinting at my computer screen, I still can't see any blurriness in the lineart. It's not quite as crisp as in the old Graveyard Velosotor, but, well...that version is pretty flat.
