The only thing I ever thought about the old one was how closely it resembled the pherret, but it a profoundly more craptacular way. The ideas behind the changes do help it distinguish itself as a separate raccoon creature rather than some fugly hybrid, but it's still not something I'd want.

I agree that the tail is much too short and the way each strip is outlined with jaggy black completely removes it from the rest of the pet. I'm not sure what 's going on with the chest fur, but it's definitely off. I think it's the black outline, at the fur nearest the shoulder, again.

It looks like Rah wasn't very inspired when she drew this, the pose lacks imagination. I think the pose of the old one was really good, it looked playful, I actually preferred it to the Pherret, which it is so often likened to.

I was impressed with the Galactic Terracoon, I changed my Hydrus Bovyne into one this month as a kind if in-limbo colour until I decide on a better colour/species. I was hoping that she could stay a Terracoon once the revamp was done. I think I like the old one better, the shading doesn't look too furry on this one which was my main disliking of the old one and this one doesn't look very interesting. I will be quite sad if the Terracoon has to stay as this for the next two or three years as I had high hopes for it and they weren't met.

I think that maybe the Terracoon could be made to sit down, as shaelyn suggested, I'm sure that would make it less box-like and it would give it a neck, but I like to think ot them as a species that always like to be on their feet and scuttering about so I'm not sure I'd like that too much either. Oh well, the new one has already won the poll, even with the criticism I doubt that it would be fixed because the results are so positive.

Aww! I love it! The art is more smooth looking and the colours really blend in together to make it more realistic looking rather than just 2-D kind of blocky colours. The pose isn't as good as the old one but overall it's a revamp that has a thumbs up from me. The face is adorable, too!

All terracoons, just to clarify.

Well, on the plus side, given how unpopular this species is, it'll make a good test run for working out how to deal with revamped pets in the rating system.

Does anyone know when this revamp is likely to be implemented?

It can be half a week until..well a few months. The Feli has been delayed by about a month, possibly longer and the Velosotor poll has been up for two weeks and it hasn't been done yet. I think the Feli is being tweaked, but it is taking a long time and the Velosotor may be being tweaked, but we don't know for sure, it was quite popular I believe.

The thing I am wondering though is will you just clear all the Terracoon colours or just the ones that were revamped? For example I expect the Bloodred or Spectrum Terracoons may be revamped a few months down the line, maybe even longer like the Reborn/Graveyard/Angelic Torrents which have been out of date since I joined in March.

Overall, I like it. The things that bother me the most are the somewhat stiff pose, the short tail and the lack of a neck. Apart from that, I can't really see any major problems. Definitely an improvement.

Oh, bugger. I hadn't even thought of that, that not every colour will be revamped. I haven't a clue.

Terracoon

Overall I think it's very good. Complements to Rah. However, the head looks a bit shiny which is throwing me off. I also agree that the tail should be longer. Nothing major though.

Eh, too lazy, will copy and paste what I put:
me wrote: I know the Terracoon is a stumpy critter, but the total lack of a neck here makes it look exceptionally stumpy - I think the old one, with having its head over its shoulder, gave the illusion of a neck. I agree that the tail should be fluffier, or at least not look so limp - it's very listless here. It borders on looking too... chibi, considering this is a standard pet pose, and I think it could be sleeked up a bit, not be QUITE so chubby.
Honestly, I couldn't put my finger on exactly WHAT i didn't like about it, but that at least says what I think is wrong. At the very least, I still don't like it, at all, so.. that might say something.

My friend Culex said it looks like a fat chihuahua, and it really does. I think just giving it a neck, fluffing the tail a bit and making it less boxy/chubby would work wonders.

Although that art itself is much better then the older image, then new one lacks (once again) the old personality and spunk it had.

I like the head and the expression, but after that it goes downhill. Like others have said, the pose lacks any personality and is static, and to me, the body is way to boxy and a lot wider (in girth) then it used to be. It had this really great sleekness to it before, and now it just looks like a chubby raccoon. Not very interesting. I also think the legs should be a little longer to support it's newfound tubby-tummy, and the tail is far too short and connects at an odd angle to the butt.

I voted for the older version, even though it's losing horribly. :(

I think it looks better than the old one but as others have said something needs to none about that tail. It is just completely off.

I think it's cute, but the tail looks really... off. Like it was cut and pasted from a completely different pet, or something. o_O I think just removing the black outlines from the rings on the tail would help a lot, and make it more consistent with the outline-less stripes on its back.

The art is a vast improvement on the species, but I still think a few things look "off" about the new terracoon, and most of them have already been mentioned:

* A more defined neck would help make the creature look less stubby, as would elongating the tail.
* I do like the concept behind the new tail, but I think it would work better if the tail were more fluffy; if it were thickened a bit and made less limp I think I'd be less inclined to agree with AngharadTy about how the markings on the back don't match the markings on the tail.
* I'd also like to see a more "playful" pose than what the new terracoon is displaying. The old one always gave me the impression that it was ready to crouch and pounch on you at any given moment (and I always thought it's tail was supposed to be wagging), but this new one seems to lack that energy.

I love the new face and the fur detail on the chest, though.
