It sucks. The Archan, as a whole, sucks. And it sucks even harder because this could have been so awesome. In the grand scheme of things this is not that bad, but I resent it hugely for not living up to that potential.

I agree with your assessment, though. The Archan is a fabulous idea for a pet that I really want to like and don't, and that goes double for this. The mane looks so scraggly and wimpy. It doesn't fit in with the bulk of the body at all.
Eh...weird face...I don't know, everytime I hear of an Archan update I cringe. Kind of like when you're expecting someone to hit you and you flinch before hand. The species is kind of putting me off, and I'm sad that it's the ONLY species getting any kind of attention lately... *pokes for Reborn Cellinox or Reborn Legaica..*
Well, I like it more than I like the other Archan redraws, but that's not saying much. I like the blue eyes, and I think the flames are nicely done. However, the feet are too big, something about the mouth looks off to me, and the ears are too floppy (and -- this is an issue I always had with Neo "angry" poses, too -- the ears should be laid down flat on the animal's head if it's mad, or at least back somewhat... not sticking up like these. Check out the reborn telenine, terracoon, anyu and tigrean, among others -- those artists got it).

This does indeed suck. Compared to the rest of the species, it sucks. The rest of the species also suck, but not quite to this extent. I can only really recognise what it is from the overmuscled bulk of the body, at first glance it looks like a strange new wolf-type pet.
I was going to say I wouldn't own it if you paid me, but I would. I would own it, you would pay me, and I would morph it into a Legeica.
That weird wolflike face seems to be the direction the Archan is heading in -- see also bloodred. And the 'I can't figure out where the light source is' shading kind of works here, because this pet is on fire, of course the light source would be screwy.
It still sucks. And its head iz pastede on yay, for which there is no excuse.
