Old poses wanted

Alright, now that Sam's deadline has passed and our current situation appears to have become more permanent I am going to continue with maddened and frenzied coding again.

While doing some technical stuff to get the scripts to fully automatically check for pets, I have also been working on modifying the scripts to download pets to be archived in case of pet revamps - to show old images.

The next to implement, obviously, is the actual displaying of old poses. But with no revamps currently going on, I sort of lack data for this. So what I need are old versions of pets, and with the many members we've got, I'm sure at least one person has an old version or two of a pet saved on their computers.

So my request - if you have a few images of old pets - one or two of a single colour would be enough, although the more the better - could you please send them to me? They can be mailed to jeroen @ pkmn . nl (remove the spaces). To help my efforts even further, if you have the (approximate) original date that version of the pet was released it'd be even more helpful. They'll show up on the site in the future, and you will be credited.

One final thing - please do not submit images downloaded from other sites. As Sam's policy was as well, they (currently) cannot be accepted due to fairness/copyright/etc concerns - I'd prefer original research. We may want to look into such a sticky situation in the future, but for now I'd like to keep this simple.

As for the shopkeepers, I could look through it, but I'm being lazy (and just spend several hours virtually banging my head against a wall getting stuff working, so I'm a bit sick of looking). I'll have to see whether the Mutant Kougra was actually the one that was originally up - the poses that are on there are, at times, different from the ones that were actually there. Still, thanks.

Would there really be copyright issues with downloading them from other sites? I can understand questions about fairness but the images are copyrighted by Neopets wherever we get them from.

Another avenue might be to contact one of the sites that has archives of the old images and ask if we can use them. It seems like someone might let us. (Heck, we had a couple of sites offering us bandwidth, and letting us take pictures is free.)

I still have all the circle poses from April Fools 2005, joke pets and real pets, so I know I have some of the pre-revamp ones...

How many pets were revamped after April, last year? I know these four were:

Acara
Kyrii
Tuskaninny
Eyrie

And I guess this is the 'Old Gnorbu' now.

Just a quick note - the April's Fools pets and similar are not useful to me, because this is for view pets scripts. What will be replicated is the bit that the old NC had that with a pet, you could click a link, and it'd show older poses from that pet.

Yeah, I suppose so, and yeah, we could ask them. I'm not closing that route, however, I am mostly looking for existing images that I can quickly use right now to test the scripts that I will be writing that'll show the things. I need to be sure that it all works.

Furthermore, hang on to these images. The next update that'll include these things is probably going to include some sort of system that'll allow specific users to upload these images instead. I'm too lazy to do all of that myself.
I'll get a list of these things written one of these days, it might be a good place to start discussion.

Still, thanks for all these images! I'm sure they'll be useful.

Mmm, I have a few saved. I mostly use redraw images for graphics, so I'm afraid I'm not too much of a help, but I have quite a few of the joke revamp lupe at least. And what I think is the pre-revamp Darigan Lupe.

well... apparently on Jan. 24, 2004, I decided it would be a good idea to download the happy pose of every pet in every color then available. So I included all the ones that have been redrawn since then: acara, eyrie, kacheek, koi, kougra, kyrii, lupe, moehog, mynci, nimmo, pteri, quiggle, techo, tuskaninny, and wocky.

I also have all poses of the old Yellow Lupe, as well as, from Dec. 2002, the happy poses of all blue pets (only revamped ones included) and skeiths, and the old halloween and mutant ones. Everything is dated.
