Yeah, when I saw the item list on the first day, I thought "aha, it's like the Rubbish avatar part 2". I genuinely didn't realise there were few enough of some of those junk items that you actually could inflate them (note that despite people's best efforts some of the others never budged over 10np, because they were so abundant to start with).

the item list has changed! so there's whole new items being asked for - Snowballs etc.

Well, that puts the cat amongst the pigeons: there's a new daily-type event, which involves the same item-gathering (although mine didn't seem to get used up?) and gives you a random event. Someone on the boards seems to have been granted the Lost Desert Stamp Avatar - he proved it by using it and linking his non-completed album page. No idea if it's permanent, or whether it's somehow faked (some of the Obelisk rewards allow you to steal an avatar, though I can't remember if those are marked as stolen?)

The av is real... someone else got the Candychan one.

The Avatar event is meant to be super duper uber rare - we are currently looking into the event rarities to make sure that this remains the case!

Yeah, judging by the frequencies on the board last night, getting an av wasn't a rare outcome at all!

There are a few negative outcomes - pant-devil style item loss, up to -2 stats and nothing at all (this may be seen as a negative depending how much you've paid!)

Just spent ~21,000 NP for nothing.

The avatar stuff is kinda bs, to be honest. It isn't the right way to release avatars (I'm not sure which were intended to come from this) imo. And I mean any avatars, except an exclusive one. Though if they were 'super duper uber rare' I wouldn't bother, even as a collector. Makes me think Wheel of Knowledge, Scalawag, Snowager rare. Not worth my time.

The last time I checked, TNT had deactived the avatar function for the time being.

Also, they said in the editorial that they were going to be adding a 'cancel' button for the quests, so that's something.

Quite. 'For the time being'; they shouldn't be given out at all.

I didn't realize until reading last week's editorial that random events were pretty much entirely revamped.

If anyone else is curious, JellyNeo seems to have compiled all (?) of them.

I am pleased to see some of the art revamped, like the Grundo Leader!

I think it is also interesting that everyone's favorite Red Poogle and Blue Shoyru got customized.


I haven't gotten any new REs since the new system... Tells you how many page views I do these days.

If it makes you feel better, I'm on the site all the time and I've only gotten two revamped REs (and both of them were previously existing ones with no effect).

My favorite revamp is Nigel the Stockbroker Chia's, because they turned his cellphone (which wouldn't exist in Neopia) into a cup on a string.

I love how he looks so much like a caricature of a sleazy businessman - he definitely looks a bit slimier than he used to, Nigel used to look pretty respectable! And then he has this cup on a string. Which I'm not sure is even connected to another cup.
