Free stuff from Canadian Burger King promotion

Apparently in the US Burger King promotion each kid's meal box comes with a different code and the items are tradeable, which means they can be bought on the SHop Wiz. (Some of them are pretty backgrounds, too.)

However, in Canada everyone has the same code (12 codes total, one per toy species), each code usable up to 8 times, and the items aren't tradeable.

Which means that the word on the street is that EVERYONE can use them (or at least everyone who have set their country to US or Canada) not just people who have actually bought the toys. There seem to be some screenies circulating of Neomails from TNT that this is OK (even on sides) because the items cannot be sold or traded. And, apparently the codes aren't being deleted when they're posted on the Neoboards. So, at first blush this seems legit. I went ahead and collected them, but your call.

The backgrounds are mostly slightly off-center and less-detailed versions of the US backgrounds. Some of them are really nice, some less so. (I think the Haunted Woods background is actually better than the US version because of the lack of detail.) And at any rate, they're free. Free is good.

I went and collected a lot of the items too. Just wanted the backgrounds, and got all but one. The HW one looks real snazzy.

*envy* That's the one I wanted, and didn't get. But yeah I got several of the fugly Virtupets BG's and at least 3 copies of all the other ones. But...YAY free backgrounds! *squee*

Seerow, I'll send my BK American Altador BG to you. I got about 2 Canadian ones, and coincidentally got the American one from the code. It's v.v. pretty.

The Shenkuu one is gorgeous! I have the American one on Svetlanya now.

The word is ALSO that you can redeem the Canadian codes on side accounts for the same "no profit possible" reason.

The backgrounds are a little plain but SPIFFY especially for being free!

Heh, those are no-trade/no giving away. I just tested to see if I could send one of my Canadian BG's to my side account. No dice. :/ I'm pretty sure that's the reason why TNT doesn't care if millions of people get free stuff by redeeming it 10 times.

Unfortunately, I missed all of the backgrounds I really wanted on my main (and, of course, got a zillion of the ones I didn't). >.<

I can't change the country on my sides to get it to work either. I've had them all set to different countries (for reasons I no longer remember =), but now there appears to be something glitchy with Neo's code recognition software, as it's trying to tell me that 'opacity' is a disallowed word.

Okay, then.

So I'm happy for everyone else, but quite annoyed on my own behalf. ^^

If your coding is keeping you from changing your profile info, just replace your style tags and it should work fine ...
<style> with <style />
and
</style> with </style />

make sure you get the space after the word style but before the slash or it will mess everything up. Then you should be able to change your country and other profile info.

I did well with the backgrounds except for one account where I didn't get any HW ones.
