Has anyone else noticed how...dated the art appears for some new items being released lately?

Did they add Jumpstart artists to the team now or what? I can't be the only one noticing this.

Wow, that does look old-school. Maybe these are items they had kicking around for years?

It's gotta be jumpstart artists, surely? They wouldn't release such old things.

That said that ice chest looks really, really familiar. Like maybe a random event of yore?

The chest looks familiar because it's the exact same chest used in one of the old winter REs, just opened instead of closed. Not sure what that's about.

- GOOD LORD WHAT. These did NOT compress very well.

Going back through last year's news now. It's...weird. It could be old items, and they were just like, "Hell with it! Just release it, AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME TO REDRAW THIS!"
But they've got to be new instead of old stuff just sitting on a server somewhere! Not all of their art has been bad, but there is definitely a dud in the group.

"Disco" and "Rainbow"

Just....wow. Disco really does not look disco-ish. No clothing items to fit with the theme either. They couldn't stick an afro on it? I thought it was rainbow but the news post states otherwise.
And I don't think I need to comment on the Rainbow Baby Blu. It simply is what it is.



There's two problems with this:
One, the art is unreasonably hideous;
Two, there is no Zombie Jubjub.

Ugh, yes.

I'm keeping my eyes open for Altador Cup artwork that is new, so I can judge that too.

I suspect some of the old items like the chia plushie were ones that were unreleased for some reason and they are just working through some of that backstock art. Things like Altador Cup prizes and announcements will be fascinating because they probably won't have been made in advance (unless they use unapproved items from past years?), and will have to be topical (special images for the winning team!).

I'm guessing they have new artists who have to learn how to use the software and the style... I don't wish ill will on those artists, they are trying, but I disapprove. What a waste to get rid of a talented, hardworking team, in order to churn out a mediocre parody of their work.

What is that one mug anyway? Blood in a fancy gold leaf mug? Wha...?

Elderly Babaa is a close one, though



But pretty much everything else was terrible and shameful. There have been strokes of genius, like the Pawt (I am still laughing at it), but otherwise, it blows.

That Babaa is flippin' adorable.

And yes, the Pawt was a very clever item! Whoever came up with that one should seriously be hired for all things comedic.
