Jiro the Mutant Gelert (Updated!)
Jiro the Mutant Gelert (Updated!)
I couldn't help myself! I'm having ideas for a story for the Neopian Times, mostly dealing with this change right here --
<img src="http://images.neopets.com/pets/happy/le ... -----><img src="http://images.neopets.com/pets/gelert_mutant_baby.gif">
I'm (white and) nerdy! To: ----------> I will eat your soul.
I'm having these ideas of how a white lenny, the nerd of his class, gets a new baby sister!
All goes well until the bullies start picking on her. -_-;;
The character (Jiro), then has to make a choice - can he change to protect the one he loves? I'm so excited I can't wait to write it! FWEE!
And THEN I had to draw a picture. Ish.
<img src="http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q147 ... l/Jiro.jpg">
Caption - "What did you say to my sister??"
I know better than to get annoyed at certain things in my artwork, like the fact it's slightly crooked, jaw is a bit messed up, that shoulder - *smacks*
((Note - the reason it has black spots everywhere is because i drew it
on the back of some Comp Sci homework . . . yay college . . . ))
SO! Any advice or criticisms on the piece of artwork above is GREATLY appreciated! I hope to have it colored in and fixed sooner than later! >_>

All of you are right - and yes, a red line copy would be fantastic. ^_^
Also, I did look at Gazella's Deviant Art . . . I WAS BLOWN AWAY. All like, ZOMG! Such taste, such style . . . it gave me the passion to learn how to draw, how to experience my feelings! (/end_Gai-Sensei_Talk) ((LAWL))
Seriously - the more I spend time here, the more I get better at what I do, and hopefully, help everyone else out as well! But Gazella has a FANTASIC portfolio, and I trust her with my cute little scribble. *grin*

Oh jeez, you guys are WAY too sweet and flattering. I still have a looong way to go with my own art, but I hope this helps a little bit, anyway...
First off, I'd probably go for something a little more like this with the legs, given the position he's in. The head also looks pretty small for the body like this, so if you decide to redraw it, I'd make it a bit larger. The mutant Gelert is a big old boxy-muzzled brute anyhow.
However, if you're still attached to the legs as they are...
There's that.
Also potentially helpful:

And you can get a few snarling refs by typing "wolf snarl" or "wolf growl" (or dog snarl/growl, whatever) into google images or wherever.

....Oh wow. I'm blown away. *big eyed*
You don't understand - all my life, I've always had to do things the hard way when it comes to my art. I had to find books, surf google, pillage through Deviant Art . . .
And now everything becomes really, really easy. I'm at a loss for words.
*admired redlines*
AH! When I have a spare minute or two (College kid, hard to find, lawl), i'll just redraw the entire thing with the tips you gave me, Gazella! I take it you just used a tablet to draw all that again? And out of curiosity, do you do your artwork in pencil and paper and then scan it, or do you do all of it on a computer?
But, thanks again. I'm still . . . amazed. Life is suddenly very simple now. 0.o;;

Ack, it's not that great! XD But I'm glad it helps a bit.
Yep, I have my big old Wacom that I used for that (and, incidentally, about 90% of my art). I just popped your sketch on a new layer in photoshop and reduced the opacity, then drew on a new layer ontop of it in red.
I used to draw and ink most of my stuff in real like, then scan it in and color, but due to the plethora of sexy art programs (Photoshop, OpenCanvas, and MangaStudio) and the tablet that I have now, I do almost everything digitally.
