The new Legendary Pokémon, Darkrai

Post by nanabobo567 »

Okay, for those of you who don't keep up-to-date on Pokémon, they're coming out with a new one, Diamond and Pearl. With it comes new Pokémon. In all games there's at least one "hidden" legendary Pokémon, you can only get from real-life events. One of them is Darkrai.
This is it.
From the sprite and description, it seemed awsome. A lithe, evil ghost that kills people by invading their dreams and stealing their souls from inside?! AWSOME!!! Then, the official art came out. This is it.
This is the evil, dream-invading Pokémon that's so hard to get? Well, burn my britches and call me burnt-britches guy! That thing is awful! It looks like a pointy old man pretending to be a wizard on steroids with a painted bear trap on his head! That's no evil ghost! How I pictured it was much more cunning and evil.
I imagined it'd look a little somethin' like this. Note the thinness, the swirlyness, the darkness. Actually, I guess it kind of sucks. But I had to get my point out somehow! Even this crap is better than the real thing!!! Computer paper, #2 pencil, charcoal pencil, blue gel pen, red Crayola.

Ehnn. The official art's not too flattering, but honestly yours looks more "cute" than sinister. It think it's the tiny paw-like hands and the huge eyes and curvy nose.

I get your point well - for me, the red ruff kills the scheme, but overall, the thing is nifty! Very evil looking indeed. ^_^

However, on a humorous note . . . *can't resist*

NOTE. STUPID ARCH HUMOR TIME. Beware.

I knew Pokemon was going down the drain when Ruby/Sapphire came out . . why? Read on.

Two words. PUBIC HAIR.

Second.

A powerful addition to any team, as it is beautiful, graceful . . . .
But, if it was MALE, it was a DRAG QUEEN.

Sorry. You can sue me now. >_>::

Back to the topic . . . yeah.

I kind of think that the Darkrai's official art looks almost exactly like the sprite. ^_~ The official art tends to be more boxy, colors too smooth, kind of weird. I like the sprites better, in general.

I agree that your version looks a little too cute, nanabobo (hahaha! I typed "nanaboob." has a nice flow to it, don't you think?), but the flowy-ness is a good notion. Ghosts should flow more, not just cut off. That's a nice touch.

Arch, my Blaziken rocks (it's certainly a better bipedal Pokemon than almost any of the others that stand on two legs, though admittedly Combusken is fugly), so that's all just personal taste, hardly indicating the downfall of an empire. ^_~ And the male Gardevoir is hardly Pokemon's first foray into the realm of crossdressing. (Not to mention James. Ah, James. Your fake breasts never fail to amuse.) I made a point to get a male Gardevoir. He's named Izzard.

(Oh, also, with the gender differences in D/P, they got rid of the crossdressing. Boo!)

Genius, Angharad. Is it an executive transvestite or an action transvestite?

And Archkiel, I KNOW you didn't just knock Blaziken. It's a kung-fu chicken, and that is always A++ in my book.

I have no intention of knocking these guys from their posts - I'm more old school (ALAKAZAM with Fire, Ice, and Thunder Punch . . . ahh . . . ), and besides, whenever I told these points to my nerdy friends, they'd always laugh. I had to give it a try. >_>;;

*has been sued* ish.

Random: I'm a huge Pokémon fan xD

The art is nice, but it doesn't look too much like the actual thing.

AND they actually made another evolution(sp?) to the family, to make it more male like =D!!

I'm pretty sure you can still get a drag queen Gardevoir in the new versions. ;3 I think you have to have a male Kirlia holding a special item for it to turn into the "male" version. Can't remember. x3

Oh, and I third the awesomeness of Blaziken. ;3 He's my little mixed sweeper. <3

As for Darkrai... I never liked it to begin with, being a ghost type and all. (I swear, the only one I like is Nincada's evolved form, and only because I love cicadas.)

Your interpretation's a lot cuter and more flowy.

Yeah, Serebii is the best website ever - it's the first place where I saw all the sprites for Ruby/Sapphire, and for Diamond/Pearl . . . I still don't know if I'll want to get the game, you know?

I'm just so oldschool - I mean, even when I was playing through Sapphire the first time, I kept my Gyarados always close to me . . . and then I found a shiny Gastly . . . that made me happy. ^_^

xD lol, I wanna get D/P but it'd mean buying a whole new console for it.
I'm the only person in my family to actually fully complete a game, and that was Saphire, ^^ I love the pokemon though. Staryu are my fave though. I'm a lot like Misty I suppose =3 I love the water Pokemon.
But it's strange I start with different types xD I like Grass ones eg; Bulbasaur and Chikorita and I like Fire eg; Torchic, but I only like Squirtle for water.
~ I like all the new ones though T.T

--- That's the best site for Sprites  it has, mini, medium and large pics eg:

Ah, nothing beats a good old Staryu. xD well Luvdisc and Goldeen come close.

Pretty sure it's a pure dark type, not ghost.. though it is ghost looking. XD

Darkrai looks close to the sprite to me.. I'm neutral on its design. I like Dialga and Sheimi best from the new gen, I think.

Woah, I got a lot more response than I assumed. I guess my picture is kind of cutesy, but whatever. Yeah, I do think they're running out of ideas for new Pokémon. Then again, with that bagworm thingy, there's still hope. Although just looking at the three-faced honeycombbee scares me. Yeah, I think a load of the new legendaries are good, but my imagery of Darkrai still stands.
