Please make me transparent!!

Post by anzuronamin »

Hey all. I'm cheap and all I have is the GIMP, which is (thank god) free. Recently, someone put up a lineart of a picture on deviantART that I wanted to colour, so I saved it and opened it in the GIMP.
Only problem is: I want to make the inking layer transparent.. does anyone know how to do this?
If anyone can make the picture transparent, you can find it here.

Thank you in advance!

Does GIMP support layer styles? (I haven't touched the program in forever, so I don't recall.) If it does, you want to set that layer Multiply or Darken.

Yes, it does :) It's called Mode, in the Layers control dialog thingy.

I've hit Mode, then went down to "Multiply" and clicked it, but nothing happened.. :? Am I missing something?

After you've multiplied the layer you should be able to color on top of it without messing up the lines.
