Thanks bonecrivain! I always strive to get them as close to the photos as possible! :)

I decided to attempt Subeta style - I've never done it before so please be gentle ^^;; So I drew a "Glacier Charlie":

Image

I hope you like it - I don't have a tablet so it's kinda hard to get things to look smooth sometimes XD

EDIT: wow, these are addictive! Anyway, since I thought the poor Turdle needed some love...

Image

I made his face a bit rounder and less angular to try and make him a little more appealing. I don't mind the Turdle anyway but I know it's not a very popular pet XD

And another one, a Reborn Hipposaru...

Image

Yeah, I have a fondness for unpopular pets XD

Wow! I really like these Subeta pets. I am most fond of the Turdle, I just want to squee at it because I really like he idea of a turtle pet, but Subeta hasn't done well with it, I'd get this if I had a free slot.

I'm not sure about the Charlie..something seems off but I don't know what, but the other two make up for it to me. You should look out for artist hirings if you have time to do it because you seem to have caught the style of these pets well and it would be good to see the less loved species having work done on them.

It seems unusual to see work to that standard and style from someone who doesn't or hasn't drawn these before.

I always wonder, how do you manage to get the lines to look so smooth and perfectly done with a mouse? I for sure would be able to do that xD But then again, I'm more for traditional art.

Great work!

Awww thanks guys! Wow, you really think I could apply for artist hirings? I don't know how they go about that but I would love to draw some of the more neglected pets in new colours! :)

Scimthary, hehe, I have my methods! I've been using a mouse for so long that I've found ways to get around things :D

Are there any you guys would want to see me attempt to draw?

What about an Angelic Lasirus or a Darmatter Cybill?

I'd say some other pets but I know the artists and they might not appreciate me asking you to draw their pets.

I think that yes, you could draw for Subeta..but you wouldn't be able to use any art you drew before being hired I think and they aren't looking for artists. You could PM Luxe here, but like I said I think they have enough artists.

Yeah I thought they would have enough as it is - it's fun drawing these anyway though :D Bit of a weird rule about not using art before you're hired but hey, it's their rules! XD

Thank you! *hugs*

I'm not sure if that is a set in stone rule, but I seem to remember someone drawing a Hydrus Demi, they were hired and for some reason they didn't allow it to be used, even though it was really good.

If you're talking about this gorgeous hydrus Demi, according to the artist it was rejected because of a phasing-out of nonstaff artists. There is an example of what you're talking about, though -- Aqua drew (and displayed here) theoretical dark matter and bloodred Endeavors either before she was hired or before the Endeavor became hers, and could not use them on Subeta.

Turethir, you make even the Turdle look good. I have two small quibbles: your line weight is too consistent and the lines tend to end abruptly instead of tapering off, and especially on the Charlie -- perhaps because it's mostly white -- the effect of this is sterile. Also, the Hipposaru's forequarters seem weird, I'm not sure what's going on there. I love that fire, though.

Awww thanks! I do taper my lines but maybe the way I'm doing it doesn't make it obvious at that resolution? I'll try some other methods. ^^ As for lineart I will try and improve that - thanks for the tips!

Here's a bloodred Ruffie I just finished:

And a silly little take on a graveyard Turdle (tried to vary line width a little here on the head):

I'll have a go at a Dark Matter Cybill for you ^^

Now off to work on the crits ^^

Hi Turethir,

I really love your artwork! You've come up with some really cool Subeta pets there as well. I was just wondering, though, if you could help me out.

I love to draw on paper and also paint on canvas, but I want to try some digital artwork. How on earth do you get your lines so smooth? Is there some sort of trick? I have a graphics tablet and Photoshop CS2. If you [or anyone else, of course] could help me out or point me twoards a tutorial, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Keep up the fantastic work!

WHAT! The level of detail you achieve with a mouse in oekaki is positively astounding! Consider my socks thoroughly rocked off. I also appreciate the Red Dwarf Meowths. But the oekaki, I am still boggling at.

There's no trick really - I just work very high res and then shrink down to smooth out the lines :)

Here's the Dark Matter Cybill somebody wanted:

I tried to make it look like a penguin hatching an egg with the dark matter ball between its feet :)
