Requesting someone to help me with a new forum set...

Post by Xelio »

So I've realized I've had the lovely forum set Teil (I think it was Teil. I kinda accidentally deleted the credit line eons ago.) made for me some two years or so ago. Seeing as my interest in neo has waned in the past year and I've replaced it with a strong adoration of Subeta, I'd love to get a new set focusing on the latter. Problem is...I can't seem to do anything that looks in the least bit decent. I've always been shoddy at these things. Heck, my subeta avatar is just an unaltered item image. So, if anyone is up to it and feeling kind, think you could help set me up with a new one?

If you'd be so kind, I'd love to have it feature the Melancholy and somewhere on the bottom half of the set have the text "Light in the Darkness" or "A Light in the Darkness." Maybe it could be all spiffy and fade from one color to another. I also happen to like the spiffy galactic looking flail and wouldn't mind it making an appearance if you want more images to work with. I'd also like "Xelio" to appear somewhere on the avatar.

I went ahead and loaded small and large versions of both items to my photobucket and have linked them here. Thanks much should anyone attempt to fulfill this request!

Thanks Tiel for the lovely set!

I banged this together in Photoshop in a couple of hours. It is either awesome or totally hideous. I have no idea. There's a lot of stuff I've been meaning to get done in Photoshop and none of it has been happening, I guess because my computer is a shambles, so I decided to take a stab at this in the hopes that it would unblock me. If you don't want to use this set, I won't be offended at all. If you like it but want me to tweak it, I'm game.

You know Twofold, that is nothing like I envisioned, and yet, is spectacular. I love the gorgeous font. If you don't mind my asking, what is the name of it? And did it come from dafont.com or some other site, or what? I'd like to have it for my use use someday.

Heck checkers, if you're really bored you can do one, but I'm really content with the one Twofold made, and I almost feel I'd be loath to pick between two different ones. So thanks so much Twofold, I lavish you and your super Photoshop skills. Cheers!

Wow -- I'm glad you like it so much; this is very gratifying. The font is Astonished, by Eduardo Recife, and you can get it here at his website. It's freeware, and apparently it's also available on a bunch of free font sites, so I must have gotten it from one of them, because Recife's website doesn't ring a bell at all. I've never had the opportunity to use it before, but it worked so well with the stuff in the background I knew I would just be wasting my time to look through the rest of my (prodigious number of) fonts.

Yeah, I keep thinking maybe it's time for a new forum set, and then realizing I'm not sure I'll be able to recognize myself. Thanks, though. :)

Let's all make new sets! ...I should take this time to request a set as well. Ha.

Instead I'll just say I like the set you made for Xelio, Twofold. I like all the flashly light things in the background.

Er. I'm not very coherent right now. But I like it. It will take a little while for me to connect New Set to Old Forum Member though.

How about this as a compromise jessi for a transitional phase from one set to the next. Old avatar in the signature may help until the new one is engrained in all your brains. After all, I did use the grey ixi one for over two years, I can't expect a change overnight. Ironically, I got a warm fuzzy from somebody talking about my set, and changed it all of 10 minutes before I read it. ;p

Just goes to show you what a BA in French lang & lit really does for a person. My students would be so ashamed of me. >< Teach me to proofread. Apparently I'm not ready to play the new neopets Imperial whatever game.

Me too! Up was down. Left was right. In was out. Cheese was pudding. The world ran amok because I made a Halloween avatar. I might change it on Subeta though. Seeing my face on my avatar there, then eventually on my lookup, will be a bit much.
