Disney's Princess and the Frog trailer...O_O!

Color me...impressed? You get a 2-fer here! The ressurection of 2-D Animation, and Disney's first African-American princess. Seeing that animation makes me feel slightly less jaded about Disney wanting to make a quick buck. If you don't know anything about 2-D VS 3-D animation. It takes Disney on average about 5 years to make a 2-D movie, and the animation shows homespun labor and effort.

Anika Rose voices Princess Tiana, and they couldnt've picked a better person to voice her. Quite a few black female celebrities were bribing and begging for this part (Hell, I would've too.) I'm glad to see that Disney didn't wuss out and cancel the production at the last minute. This movie had to climb some serious modifications to appease politically correct "angry mom" crowds. Practically axing the plot altogether by changing her name, and having her be a chambermaid (because it was too controversial to have a Cinderella origin featuring a black maid). Although I really wish they didn't change her original name from 'Maddy' to 'Tiana'. Tiana is such a ghetto, historically inaccurate name for the 1920's in New Orleans. Other than that, this 1 minute teaser looks promising! Took 'em 70 years to get around to it...but nice!

Wait, how is a chambermaid different from a maid? Meh. I am not a fan of the princess genre or Disney's cartoons anymore, with the exception of Lilo and Stitch. I couldn't care less really, but wasn't Kida from Atlantis black? Or maybe she wasn't a princess? Whatever.

I watched that last night. It looks so cute. <3

Aside from the issues you mentioned (yeah, how dare they make the movie historically accurate, what were they thinking? e.e), I'm looking forward to seeing this one. It'll be nice to see a new traditionally animated movie, too. When's the last time one even came out?

Although, I can't imaging ANYONE wearing that get-up in New Orleans in the 1920s (I also know hardly anything about the time period, so I am probably very wrong on that one). And what's wrong with 'Maddy'? It's a cute name. D: And now that you mention it, 'Tiana' does sound ghetto. :/

Would you happen to have a link to the original fairy tale? I've never heard of it before this, other than the old "if you kiss a frog, it'll turn into a handsome prince" line.

Lilo and Stitch rocks :) It's the alternative to all Disney movies.

Very vague. I couldn't get out what they were trying to say what the fable was about in that article.
'Maddy' was said to sound too close to 'Mammy'. *rolls eyes* I would've just called her Madeline and told the PC's of critics/angry mom's to go tell someone who cares. Disney is known to be 'fat artists'. Abandoning their ideas on a whim for the sake of making more money.
