Plot?! Broken random events and a Moltaran portal...
Something is afoot on the site!
Some lutari has hacked into the random event matrix and is using it to (poorly) transmit messages. Which, quite frankly, is really annoying because I was hoping to take advantage of increased random events. Do you know I've had my account over 10 years now and never seen Jacko?
It starts with a static-y image and notes about a water tower in Moltara. From there, I figured out the daily(?) puzzle without too much difficulty. Poke the red things, they have a pattern to turn inverse the color, you want to turn everything green.
JellyNeo has more details.
Wheeee puzzles! Too bad I'm at a local con all weekend and will be trying to do fun things offline. Great timing, as always, Neo. Can you please take my personal schedule into consideration?
(Do'ya think this was planned before the Jumpstart thing? Intentionally coincident? Or are they scrambling to change corporations and also run a plot at the same time? Poor dears.)

@Katy: Jacko the Phantom Painter's a Random Event in which you receive a paint brush (either petpet or regular, if I remember correctly).
Anyway, this sounds exciting. Will have to check out JN in a bit for more details.

Oh! That sounds neat. I've never been visited by him either, in 11.5 hears. Thanks Color Wheel.

Maybe they're finally going to allow us to do something with Lutari Island other than stare at it.

So the portal has been unlocked!
You get to join Dr. Landelbrot aboard the spaceship The Coincidence. Because in Neopia, cell phones and cars are too technologically advanced, but orbital space craft is easy.
Anyway, Dr. Landelbrot (gosh I'm entertained by the name), is trying to fix the random event machine. He asks you to get a bunch of items, including duplicates. Fortunately, all of mine seemed to be frequent daily prizes, so I had most of what I needed in my SDB and the rest were 1 or 2 np. I'm guessing that's intentional, yay for not wrecking the economy!
Now I have a 10 hour wait. Based on the NC side event, which has prizes for 7 days, I'm guessing machine building will have time stalls to fill up that same time slot.

Yeah, my new quest would cost 220k. Great. (It includes 4x Pottery Shard Daggers). I don't see any point in completing it because I've seen a 400k quest on the boards, so there's no guarantee I'd get a sensible one next.

I'm already over it as well. Today my task would have taken thousands, and I doubt the pay off would be worth it.
For now I will just reap the benefits of inflation on rewards from my dailies, like that my Twirly Plant is going for about 40,000 NP right now.

I've been trying to help out by slashing the prices of any items with inflated prices that I get. There's always the possibility a restocker will get it, but this is the only way I can make money while not mooching off the poor. Since when does Neopets give me ethical dilemmas?

LOL. I agree Color Wheel.
I got a Pygmi something today, and it was going for 2000+ so I put it in for $1050.

The prices seem to have come down a bit - is this just the market at work, or do you think TNT have actually done something? (eg upped the proportion of the more expensive items being given out through dailies)

It's possible TNT may be doing something to mitigate the prices. Given what he's asking for is normally throwaway stuff, I very much doubt TNT intended for this to be very expensive.Jazzy wrote:The prices seem to have come down a bit - is this just the market at work, or do you think TNT have actually done something?
