New Poll: Velosotor Revamp!

Post by Silverevilchao »

There's a poll for the Velosotor now!

ImageImage

Left image, of course, is the revamp, while the right image is the current pet.

Post your opinions! Yay!

(personally, the only problem I have with the new one is that, for a Velociraptor [sp?], it looks a bit too much like a T-Rex.)

I love the new one. My only problem is that smirk on its face...

EDIT: Also the nose looks kind of like a beak =x

I wish it was a bit more slender as well, it does look too much like a T-rex.

Still . . . now I might make a Dinobot pet :D

EDIT: Hmm . . . the more I look at it, the more I don't like it. It's too bulky, the smile makes it look dumb, and the claws (especially the front ones) look blunt. The neck should be long and slender, and the tail needs to be longer as well.

The expression kinda bothers me... I realize they were probably going for a cunning little smirk there, but it just looks like a big goofy grin to me. :/

Much better pose and shading though, and I love the fact that the revamp actually has those big raptor claws. :D

The face is weirdly sweet, but the face of the old Velosotor was even sweeter. The new version has a bit more mischief in it, not less. I like this a lot. It may stay.

Edit: What it really looks like, aside from the sickle claws, is an Afrovenator, a robust sort of dromeosaurid a la T. rex and Allosaurus but with relatively powerful arms. There are a couple of other species along the same lines. This is virtually irrelevant.

Edit again: Dear sweet Christ I want to see a dromeosaurid pet with feathers.

I like the claws of the new one and the body as a whole, but something about the face puts me off. Probably because it's so different from the old face. And that it looks too T-Rexish. *g*

I hated the old one, so I'll vote for anything that isn't the same. I don't care if it's a toaster with paper claws pasted on. It's still better.

Also, Dinobot > All other dinosaurs

Am I the only one that likes the old one better? I like it's slenderness and sweet expression.

I'm glad to see a pet with a lot of potential get a revamp, but I'm with many of the others in wishing to see what should be a sleek raptor get slimmed down a bit. This is certainly a bit chunky, including the short tail. At first I really didn't like the expression, but the more I look at the visible eye it does still seem to be sweet looking. The mouth and nose are a bit wonky, but I can deal with that.

I love it! I don't think that any pet needed a revamp more than the Velosotor did, and with this I am impressed. I think it's smile makes it look mischievous, like it's saying, "look at me, I'm going to steal some poor innocent dinosaur's eggs!" I love the claws too, they look great.

Its head is a little t-rexy, but not overly. The grin is a bit goofy for my tastes, but the eye is really nice and makes it look sweet. I love the claws on the feet... and the fact that it has bigger claws in general.

First time I saw this, I went "Whoa, badass".

Now, looking at it a bit better... Yes, it's a bit bulky, but it's still better than the old one. The grin IS goofy, and that's kinda bothersome, but the old version looks disturbingly sweet as well.

The only thing I dislike about this is the one thing that really bothered me about the Tigrean too - the shading is way too heavy and interferes with the natural stripes on its body.

But I still hate this pet and will never get one, so eh.

I think this one has too much of a goofy smile to it. I liked how the old Velosotor almost looked kind of peacful and this looks like a friendly/mischievous dinosaur now.

I agree with the shading mentioned by Jessi, it clashes with the stripes sorta. I hope Jill didn't draw this because so far I like all of her pets she revamped. xD

Oh and another thing, it all looks crammed into the top right corner of the image. It's probably because of the pose, but the top right area looks crammed and the bottom left corner is empty.

DINOBOT.

Oh, memories.

The shading bothers the heck out of me. Seriously. I'm quoting my friend:

Love the art, but shading bothers me so much ;_; That weird kinda shading I've been seeing a lot lately. It was fixed on the Tigrean though. I don't know, the shading heavily over powers the markings. I couldn't even see the face well because it's too dark and in contrast that toenails are too bright so my eyes don't find a central point. (I was taught that you'd want to find a central point where your artists eyes go, and they follow down the image)

If the shading was toned down a bit and the claws were not so sparkly (I don't think dinos had clean feet ;D) I'd go with the new one 100%.

We're pretty much on the same mindset so I agree with her. Shading bugs me something fierce.

Also:

Yeah, I'm wondering why all the new revamps make the pets look bulky/fatter lately :/

I've been noticing that too D: Tigrean looked a bit bulky at first too. I kinda miss the older style of shading. Everything is heavy on shadows/highlights lately...

Image

Tsume's shading style is my favorite !

Besides the complaining, I do love the artwork of the pet. And the anatomy (thank god) is pretty correct despite the snout being too thick. Doesn't feel like a velosotor as much anymore, but a lot of pets don't keep the feel of their older versions anymore :( (exclude: tigrean and sheeta)
