Then don't save them as bitmaps Cally. :P

Bitmaps have absolutely no compression. This means they have a very very large file size. Photobucket resizes things over a set file size, or apparently saves them as JPGs.

Try saving them as a PNG. Not quite as good as GIFs for pixel art, but they save in Paint much easier.
