I've never been a Dragon fan (although I did prefer the old pose to the new one), but this is gorgeous, and the only dragon-type critter on the site I'd consider owning, if it were the real update. It's just like what Rah did with the Chai -- the art's updated, but the spirit of the pet remains. It's excellent.

I never wanted to own any of dragon type species on subeta (or Neopets for that matter) but I'd get this one - it sums up all aspects I always liked about dragons in literature. Wonderful job Nyaunyau!
I wish this picture would leak to Subeta - with all the commotion dragon is already causing, knowing that an artist they let go produced such a marvel, there'd be a riot

Oh you should. It is a "children's" book along the same lines as the "Wizardology", and "Egyptology", and "Pirateology". With the little inserts and what-not, making dragons appear real, etc.Officer 1BDI wrote:I haven't, but now I am intrigued.danceu4ia wrote:Has any other nerdly person like myself bought the book of Dragonology? That book (and your illustration) show very nicely, the different dragon styles one can draw.
I highly recommend it, but don't pay more than $25 CAN (10 c US ) for it, some retailers take advantage of geeks ya know.

Geez, I need to stop working at book fairs.

I think if the eyes were perhaps darker it would lose that angry/mischievious affect and seem more calm? The gleaming green is bright, happy, energetic, and maybe a dash of nuclear waste. XDMayhem wrote:I LOVE IT. My only qualm is that the eyes look a little angry/mischievous, whereas the old Dragon had a calm, relaxed look.
If this were the new Dragon revamp, I'd be all over it, even if the eyes stayed like that.

Never for a moment did I want a Dragon before I saw this, but now I think that the right color of this Dragon could be the color for a pet I've got waiting in the wings, if it existed. Man, this just makes the whole revamp debacle even more irritating. Thanks a lot, NyauNyau! Curse you and your masterful pen!
It's GORGEOUS, NyauNyau. This is really how the dragon revamp should have been -- perfect update of the old pet without losing any of its quiddity. There isn't a thing I dislike about it. It wouldn't be enough to make me run out and get a dragon, but that's only because I don't have room or personality for one. But it is a thing of beauty, really.
[moved from other thread]
The only thing wrong with that Dragon so far as I can tell is that it doesn't even come close to filling the 200x200 vertically so would probably be rejected based on that. Well, and the light source seems a little inconsistent but that isn't hard to fix and nor is light source something that seems to come up a lot on subeta art.
...you know, just treating it like I would if it were the real revamp. ^^;
It seems negative but those are relatively minor and honestly the art is amazingly gorgeous even so. Definitely what I'd want if I owned a Dragon at all.

Yeah, it doesn't fill it vertically. But I can't see how that would be an improvement, really; I love the pose as it is. Perhaps, however, I'm still too used to Neo, and the way pets often don't fill out the space, in one dimension or another. (Like how Blumaroos were always in about a third of the space, vertically.)
I don't think that space has to be filled just because it's there. I understand if those are the artistic standards on the site, but it's not a big deal to me, not when the pet itself looks so gorgeous.

Really nice work, good thing you're an artist! :3 I hope this becomes the Dragons art, it's the original pose, it has no wings, whiskers and green scales more detailed to it so the site looks good, and not a 'I'll beat you up' look to it ^_^ I think you should really try to get this to be the new dragon art, I totally would make a Dragon with this art, I liked the originals 'harmful and wise not Angry and evil' look and this is still in there, it's good and I think the users would like this a lot more =) you did a really good job. *claps*
Edit: Sorry I didn't know you were fired unfairly.

Heh, sorry I couldn't bare not seeing your art on the site and asked Chimaera and Kelpie about this situation. So you're not fired after all, you can go back if you wish. REALLY really sorry for getting involved.Date Jun 12, 2007 - 04:13:29

I know there's been a whole lot going on both here and on Neocolours, but if there's anything that needs clarification, please feel more than free to ask--it's what we're here for, after all.

Oh, thankyou (: sorry for asking you just she's a nice person and all and I'm glad she has a second chance.
Patronus, Kelpie and I have already asked Nyaunyau earlier today if she'd like a second chance on staff. Although she was let go for inactivity, she was caught up in a bad situation during that period of time, and we don't hold it against her at all.

I don't know if you're the right person or whatever to ask/tell this to, or even if I should but I don't like unfair things happening.
I'd like to speak on behalf of NyauNyau (She doesn't know it and lets keep it that way), an ex-artist. They haven't asked me to, but after me seeing two pieces of their artwork, and finding out the reason they were fired, I think they deserve a second chance.

I think that artwork shouldn't go unnoticed, the reason she was fired was because she missed her date to draw items right? Well I'd like to say she had no choice, her account was hacked and selfroze and it took a few weeks to sort out, therefore she was busy fixing her account problems and wasn't able to reach the time to do them.
I think everyone deserves a second chance, especially people with great talent.
I hope you reconsider.

If you were "REALLY really sorry," checkers, you wouldn't have done it. I do'nt know what NyauNyau will think, and overall it isn't a huge deal, but it's a job -- nobody in real life would go petitioning to a company on behalf of a stranger; it just isn't very polite.
Perhaps you should think through things and try to decide beforehand if it's going to be something you're "REALLY really sorry" for before you actually go ahead and do it. And then post it publicly. Jesus.
